My boss lost the bureaucratic battles so tomorrow I hand in my laptop and all my work accounts are closed. The advice from the IT help desk was "Don't fill in the leaver form and don't tell anyone you've left". But my boss wasn't prepared to do that as he'd already got into trouble with the department that oversees contractors, for giving me a bonus (after they told him it was OK).
So, as you can imagine, major last minute panics trying to get everything finished.
Not helped by leaving some data to process overnight and discovering that I hadn't pushed the power cable firmly enough into the laptop, so the battery died half way through and I had to start from scratch this morning.
Then, when about to extract some other data from a Spotfire file, discovered Spotfire was no longer installed in my laptop. I only used it last week! That took an hour to reinstall (it's a big app).
Just took over an hour to save my 115Mb Excel spreadsheet over the network. So I could close it and open it in another app, which is also taking an hour to do. We're 'not allowed' to store data on C drives, and even if I had I'd have to spend all tomorrow transferring everything to the network drives.
I can easily see myself logging a 14 hour day today.

So looking forward to staying in on Friday night. Sat I need to do a lot of Christmas shopping. In the evening the gigs pre-Slimes look very tempting.
Would love to celebrate the end of the job with a late night, but with the B&B sale on Sunday, followed by Alterred at the O2 Academy (at which I've been asked to take photos), then Reptile - I might save my energy.

And then on Monday a week long portrait photography training course at St Martin's College. Really looking forward to that :)
