yesterday i went to a performance of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. before everybody gets excited and says "How cultured!" or "How classy!", let me add the fact that it was concert consisting entirely of video game music. yeah, you read that right. but let me also say it is damn good music. the concert was called "Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy". anybody that knows me should know that Final Fantasy is one of my favorite series, and so this concert was very good thing. the orchestra did a great job, and there was also a high school choir, which did not sound like a high school choir, it sounded sweet.
the choir sang in the first song, "Liberi Fatali." and left for the remainder of the concert. after a great set of songs, and two hours later, the concert was over, and i was disappointed solely because one song that should've been included was left out.
or so i thought. back onto the stage after the final piece and a standing ovation (in what was a near sold-out crowd consisting of not just gamer guys that dwell in basements and myself, but also some very good looking girls, i kid you not.) came the choir, and the conductor, and everyone knew what was about to be played. it was, and is in my opinion, one of the final fantasy songs made for orchestra and choir: "One-Winged Angel." haunting, epic, energetic, incredible. a great ending to a good concert.
okay, if you avoided reading all that geek stuff, life is going alright. heat and humidity are not my friends, but rain is since that means i don't have to water the flowers while mom's away in the philippines and still get paid for doing it :).
school's coming up in a month, which i can't believe. i need to talk to my roommates and figure out who's getting a futon, or are we all going in on it. oh well.
