August Challenge: Summer of the Squid
Well, we don't know about the rest of you, but with the heat waves that have struck much of the world in the last few weeks, we've been contemplating the switch to an aquatic lifestyle. So, for our August challenge, we decided to honor a creature who's been clever enough to make the switch already. We proudly proclaim this to be:
Summer of the Squid!
The challenge is a grabbag roulette. We've gathered a numbered list of people, places, and things from both Wizard and Muggle worlds. There is also a crossover category for characters, places, and objects from other verses. You chose a number from any category and write a story or create a piece of art incorporating both the Giant Squid and the person, place, or thing you have chosen. For example, if you get Sirius Black, you could write a fic about Sirius's first encounter with the Squid as a mischievous 11 year old.
Each number may be chosen only once, and you may choose up to two numbers at a time. If you choose two numbers, we strongly encourage you to incorporate both into your fic or art. However, you can choose to focus on only one.
As always, gen stories and artwork of any length or size, rating, genre and style are welcome. Squid-centric gen fic and art of all sorts (including crossovers and crack) are welcome in addition to entries from the grabbag roulette.
Members: You may post your work at any time, as you would any other piece according to the posting guidelines. Non-members: We would love for you to participate as well! Just post your work in your own journal then comment here or send us an email at omnio_mods @ yahoo.com with a link.
The challenge will close August 31th and the masterlist will be posted September 1st.
