A very clever peice - while each little part, taken separately, seems isolated from all the others, they mesh together very well.
I suppose the end of the war really will be like this - a lot of cause for celebratation, some ugly home truths and politics and practicalities soon raising their heads again.
Particular kudos for a reconciliation with Percy that seems likeable, a Neville who is strong (with an aunt who isn't a monster) and a Snape who goes to his death stubborn, unpleasant and more in the right than most people would like to admit.
Thanks very much! In case it's of interest, I started writing the story as it is now, with all the stories intertwined, but then chickened out and finished them all off separately before interweaving everything.
And I'm very glad you liked the way I did Snape - I'm always nervous when I write him.
I'd love to pick each and everyone of the characters, and tell you how good they're handled... but this would make the review longer than your fic, and certainly much more awkward!
So I'll just say here that you've underlined this undercurrent of absolute tragedy that runs in the original story behind the teenage romance and the school magic... And made all of these characters so, so lovable. And the way the understated tragedy mingles with understated hope - ah, Ron and Hermione! is beautiful.
Also, I loved your Snape. And I really hope that JKR will be able, as you did, to keep his ambiguity until the end, whatever it is.
Excellent -- seems psychologically right for everyone and with some moments that really hit hard, showing some of the possible bleakness of the victory.
Amazing how such a seemingly scattered collection of incidents can have such an emotional impact. By the end, they're still not all close to well, but finally moving in the right direction. Except maybe for Snape. I hope JKR isn't quite so enigmatic about what motivated him... Very good piece, anyway.
Thank you! Yes, I don't think there's anyway they could all resolve their issues in the space of a week - some characters will take an awful long time to heal IMO.
Snape - I also hope that JKR will give us more information in book 7, but I did love the way she made him completely ambiguous again in HBP, so that's the interpretation I went with. One of these days I'm going to have a bash at deconstructing Snape post-series (and try and keep him alive in the process).

That's interesting what you say about underlying tragedy - you're right, of course, and this may actually be why I like the books so much.
I'm glad you liked Snape; I love what JKR did to him in HBP, and I really wanted to remain true to that portrayal.
