Moving to a New Home
In about two weeks, my family and I will be moving out of our current townhome and into an actual house. I'm really excited for it, namely because of how the rooms are arranged. First off is the ground floor, which has three separte rooms (one for my mom, one for my aunt, and a guest room). This is really convenient for my mom, since she's always having troubling going up and down stairs in our current home. Then there's the basement, which my sister and I will have separate rooms in; it's even got its own living room area and kitchen. Finally there's the amzingly huge backyard, which I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time in, whether it be grilling in the summer or igloo building in the winter. I think for the time being, this newer house will be a good solution for the entire family- it's convenient for my mom, and me and my sis get that slight sense of independance we've been longing for, while still building up our finances.

Of course, if there's any downside to the whole move, it's that now I'll be assuming the age-old sterotype of being a grown man living in my parent's basement. Hot pockets here I come... :p

Thoughts on the Stanley Cup Final
For a spirited contest, Patrick Kane's OT winner was a bit of a letdown, mainly because of the weird way the puck went in and the delayed reaction from the rest of the team. I imagine his teammates' went a little something like this:

Kane shot the puck, why is he celebrating?

Wait a sec, it went in!

Oh snap, I think we just won the Cup!

Honestly, I wasn't too thrilled that the Chicago Blackhawks won. Hate to say it, but I was routing for the Philly Flyers (and let us never speak of it again...). Given the Flyers' track record of improbably (the last team to earn a playoff berth and they beat Boston after trailing 3-0), I was really pulling for their amazing run. Plus, I really liked the idea of the 'Hossa Hex' and hoped it would continue. :p

And the overall reason why I didn't like the outcome? Cristobal Huet. The Free Agency snub he gave Washington a couple of years ago still has a bitter taste in my mouth and has only intensified now that he has a Stanley Cup ring. I find it annoyingly hilarious that he had to suck royally in order to give the 'Hawks a chance to win.

FIFA 2010
I'm not too big into soccer/futbol, but I really enjoy the excitement surrounding it. The only other tournament I've ever watched was Euro 2008. Germany was the runner up in that, and I've been routing for them ever since (especially Bastian Schweinsteiger, who I think has an awesome last name, lol!). Looking at the US roster, nobody from DC United is there, so I'm probably not gonna cheer for the US as much as I should (unless of course it's an important game in the tournament).

Upcoming Video Games
With E3 just around the corner, there's a bunch of debut videos already hitting the web. Two titles have already caught my attention...

Mortal Kombat (aka MK9)
Pretty psyched about this one, as the MK franchise seems to be returning to the game engine it's originally been known for (2D fighting with gratuitous ways to kill opponents). The past couple of games have been more or less a disappointment in my opinion, mainly due to the weird features (like 360 fighting) each successive title introduced (though I do like how MK: Armageddon added every known character made).

Rock Band 3
OMFG, there's a keyboard in this game! According to this Kotaku article, the next Rock Band installment is gonna be keyboard-heavy and includes playable songs like Dio's Rainbow in the Dark and Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News. Those songs alone have convinced me to get this game! Then there's the guitar with a full set of strings and actual frets. I've always wanted to learn the guitar, so this may be the first step in properly doing so.
