Further Reason Jackie Chan is Awesome
Meant to post this last night, but I was a bit tired. So after watching the Caps-Lightning game on TV with my sister, we did a bit of channel surfing and somehow caught the last five minutes of Mulan. At that point it dawned on me: despite knowing a good number of songs from the movie, I've never actually seen it. Next thing I know, I'm on YouTube looking up some Mulan songs and somehow came across this neat little gem:
I knew Jackie Chan was an accomplished singer in China (I really liked the music he did for the Beijing Olympics), but damn, my respect for him just skyrocketed higher than it already was after discovering this. Apparently Jackie Chan sang two different versions of I'll Make a Man Out of You: one in Cantonese and another (presented in the video above) in Mandarin. While I don't understand a word of either language, I can sense the dialect difference and definitely think the Mandarin version is a little better.
