Lawn bowls with work was kinda laaaaame but it was fun. The best part was going to The Powerhouse after, which is this old electrical powerhouse on the Brisbane River which was closed down in the 50s and was reopened a few years ago as a cultural centre - it has a lot of bars and restaurants and live music and a theatre and dancing. And no carding! I just walked in. >> I wasn't sure whether it was illegal or not.
I think I drank over 20 Lemon Lime and Bitters that day.
It was good though because there were live comedians! And the main guy,
Dave Callan - I had NO IDEA who he was until he came onstage. I saw him once in the Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala and he's on Triple J. So I was all excited about it since HE'S FUNNY. And he was. :D
Also, before Dave Callan was this excellent musical comedian that I've never heard of, David Eastgate, and I bought his cd which was self produced and it was just GREAT. *_* I found his myspace...heeeeeeeeh
LOL. He's been to Japan and he looks rather wild doesn't he. Pffft. xD
What else happened Sunday night; a fellow waitress from work dropped a glass on my foot and now I have glass IN my foot. There was blood but mergh. I think if there is still any glass in my flesh its been accepted into my foot. T.T Also, I was walking and this huge guy (compared to me, and remember I'm tall), as soon as I step into this spilled drink he runs into me so consequently I have huge grazes on my knees. -_-; But then two of the comedians (other ones xD) ran over to me to see if I was alright. :D Things like getting hurt don't really bother me much, unless it REALLY hurts.
We had to get to the lawn bowls place and The Powerhouse for 45min on the ferry. Coming back was lovely - on the river at night, going right past the city. :3
And I don't know...the whole experience, especially after hanging around with these people from work for a while now after work and all, I just...well. All they do is earn money and spend it being drunk on their days off. :\ They are all lovely people though, it's just that I don't really fit in with how they live their lives because I...don't want to spend my life like that. I just felt uncomfortable being the only sober person at that work function for the whole ELEVEN HOURS DURATION. But yeah. I think I have a problem being comfortable with the idea of being drunk/wasted/smashed/whatever else you want to call it in public places. Just...no. In someone's house, at a party, is fine. But usually as soon as I think I'm becoming drunk I stop drinking. It's like a reflex action. *SIGH* I don't know what I'm going to do when I actually TURN 18, in what...TEN DAYS. DX GAAAAAAAH
Then last night I went out to dinner with Dian and Leesy and it was yummy and good and fun and yaaaaaaaaaaay the Christmas tree is up in the city. The huge one. o_o Except - what the hell is up with the snowflakes down Queen Street Mall. SNOWFLAKES??
Dian is coming to stay with me on the floor of my room until she's flying back to Indonesia mid-December since her college is closing. I hope that turns out alright. We're going to go joint shopping tomorrow.
I hate being a waitress and I want the bookstore to RING ME DAMMIT. But otherwise...
Brisbane has been invaded by the
Barmy Army. All the English pubs have flags showing their alliance in the upcoming
Ashes series; the first test is being played here. The Barmy Army are insane; the news said that over half of the hotels and hostels in Brisbane are fully booked out. WITH ENGLISH PEOPLE. HERE TO WATCH THE CRICKET. That's dedication. Some people love them and some hate them; what with their loud cheering, most of which is insulting to Australians, which most usually find hilarious, yet some people think they disturb the game. The players need to concentrate! Australians don't care enough to have chants. We used to be able to fight back saying the Barmy Army is supporting a team that couldn't win a game of cricket, but ENGLAND WON THE ASHES LAST YEAR. DX As long as things don't get out of hand. What with cricket though; long hours in the hot sun add alcohol...although. Nothing really terrible has ever happened before in my memory, between supporters.
Today I crashed Itachi (my laptop) FIVE TIMES but yeah...>> He's alright now. :D *pats him*
I ALSO CLEANED MY ROOM. THIS IS A BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT. X]
Also I might be getting a Nintendo Wii for my birthday!!
