Space
I loved the HELL out of Star Trek. They managed to accomplish exactly what they needed to (destroy the public conception that Star Trek is boring) while keeping enough of what I love about it intact, and also completely preserving canon while simultaneously freeing themselves of it. Slightly more action-y than would be my preference as a fan who is used to boring quiet space scenes where nothing much happens, but there was more convincing emotional depth in the few quiet scenes than in an entire season of most of the shows. There are slight character differences, all of which seem to heighten the intensity of their motivations, but this IS the Kirk and Spock I grew up with. I'd say more, but I hope lots of you are still planning to see it. I can't wait for the five-year mission to begin.
