Live from the center of the Earth...

I'm currently 2,341 feet beneath the Earth. In space. Innerspace. Underspace. Actually, even better: I'm also in the middle of a teleconference and downloading Ubuntu updates at 300 KB/s. Amazing how well-connected the land of the mole people can be. Shifts are from 7:30AM to 5:30 PM. My 3-day shift at Soudan ends Wednesday night. For such long days, it's hard to bring down much of anything for lunch, in that cramped mine car.

Much later...

Damn, I'm hungry. I've been working on some data acquisition interfaces, most recently some mundane tape storage stuff. Hopefully I'll have something better to do by tomorrow. Haven't been bitten by any bats yet, though they do tend to nearly fly right into you. I can't imagine they have many good restaurants up around Soudan, but apparently they do have expensive ones. That's almost the same, right? Luckily, we get $20 per diems, so I should be OK. Maybe if I get lucky they'll have "taco in a bag." It's a northern Minnesotan delicacy.
