Short and sweet- this list is comprised of what Google's response is when you type in a single letter. What I find more interesting than all of the retail hits are the few that *aren't* retail hits.
Here goes-
Amazon
Best Buy
craigslist
Dictionary
Ebay
Facebook
Gmail
Hotmail
Imdb
Jet Blue
Kohls
Lowes
Mapquest
Netflix
Old Navy
Pandora
quotes
realtor.com
Southwest airlines
Target
USPS
Verizon Wireless
Walmart
XM radio
Youtube
Zillow
There are a couple in here that I question. Like, for example, how is P not "porn?" Surely something must be swaying the algorithm. While I'm sure that Pandora's free Internet radio service is an amazing product, it can't hold a candle to roughly 50% of the Internet being devoted a subject under the letter "P." And I totally appreciate the algorithm having the sense to make it falling over stupid easy to find oneself a dictionary.
All in all, this list does seem to demonstrate to me what the perceived value of the Internet is and "a free flow of information" ain't it. Just be glad that google doesn't make a children's alphabet book.
