For the eight year in a row, the Love Reflection Mailing List will be home to a blessed birthwave of lemony goodness to cleanse our sinful souls and spread the faith of the lemon to the hungering masses.
Your intrepid mods this year are cantabrasil03 and omnicat. Special mention and endless showerings of praise and gratitude go to wingzerohugs, who is kind enough to finance this year’s prizes.
What exactly is the Church of Lemons, I hear the ignorant and the forgetful ask?
Why, it is a month-long porn challenge, of course! Followers of the way of the lemon flock together at the Love Reflection Mailing List to fill a whole month’s worth of pledges (= promises to submit, enforced by threat of whipping) of the sexiest fanwork they can create. And if our calendar is full and more convertees are still coming, who knows, we might get lucky and get multiple pledges a day!
If you’re wondering what types of fanwork you can pledge for, I’ll tell you.
It has been decided that this year, we will be accepting fanfiction, fanart, and fanmade music videos. Fanmixes are unfortunately out, but if you have another medium you’d like to try, don’t hesitate to bring it up to one of us mods!
There is no minimum or maximum word count/image size/vid length, but as the name Church of LEMONS implies, we are here for smut, smut and yet more smut, so don’t forget what we’re aiming for. ;)
Sounds good so far, huh? But the most important part is, of course, the couples that’ll be doing the sexing.
In keeping with the Church’s origins as a 1xR-only event, our main focus will be the pairing of Heero and Relena, of Gundam Wing fame, in carnal ways. However, as long as you don’t break up 1xR or start creeping into rape, incest or loli/shota territory, you can pledge any Gundam Wing het pairing. Plus, this year the additional fandoms, from which you can also choose any het pairing, are:
Gundam 00
Bleach
Fullmetal Alchemist
You can pledge as many GW fanworks as you like, but non-GW pledges are restricted to one per person, plus one extra for every GW fanwork you also pledge. So say that you want to pledge two FMA fics: you can pledge one "free of charge", so to speak, but to be allowed to enter the second, you’ll also have to make one GW pledge. For a third FMA pledge, you’d have to make a second GW pledge, and et cetera. This restriction is in place because the CoL has always been, and likely always will be, a GW-centered event, and a lot of our participants may not be familiar with the other fandoms.
Do note: all fanworks MUST be het-only.
While some of us are certainly not averse to the occasional yaoi or yuri couple, in order to comply to the rules of the Love Reflection ML (where the Church of Lemons is held), as well as staying true to the Church’s roots, only het smex and romance is allowed to appear in your pledges.
Threesomes and moresomes, like Greed/Ling/Ran Fan of Fullmetal Alchemist and Allelujah/Hallelujah/Soma/Marie of Gundam 00, are allowed, provided that all sexual contact is between a man and a woman and romantic content does not slant towards a same-sex pair within the relationship. Crudely put: don’t try sneaking in your yaoi ship under the pretense of a threesome.
For the sake of this event, Tieria Erde from Gundam 00 counts as a man, simply because both in-universe and in fandom, he presents himself and is portrayed and treated that way the vast majority of the time. Same goes for the other Innovators/Innovades except Anew Returner, who will count as a woman. Genderbending of any kind is out, sorry to say. Again, there is no point trying to sneak in yaoi couples under the radar. ;)
Alrighty, now that that’s all cleared up... When are we starting?
If you’re reading this, it means that we are open for pledging!
We are aiming for one pledge or more per day, every day between February 7 and March 7. Pledge dates are on a first come, first serve basis; we’d like a full calendar before we start doubling up.
The week right after the posting period (March 8 till 14) is our amnesty period, known as the Week of Rapture. If you didn’t manage to fill your pledge on the designated date, you can still post it during the Week of Rapture, and read and comment on stories that slipped your attention before. Stories posted during the Week of Rapture don’t earn you points for the prize lottery; feedback does.

Hold on, didn’t you say something about prizes?
Indeed I did! The great number of fresh, succulent lemons that’ll be produced are of course a reward in and of themselves, but there are prizes to be won as well.
This year, we have two prizes. Every pledge you make or piece of feedback you leave earns you one point, and we mods will randomly draw two names from the pile when everything is over.
The first prize winner gets first pick, second prize winner gets what’s left. These lucky people can select EITHER:
