A bunch of random stuff.
Church of Lemons: Posting will start on Feb 7. If you'd like to participate, HURRY UP AND PLEDGE ALREADY!
halfamoon: A comm celebrating women in fiction. It runs until the 14th. Prompts are
here, the Unpopular Woman Love Post
here, and Relena's entry on that post
here, courtesy of Ingvild. :)
springkink: Yeah, these things really seem to love this time of year. Both Porn Battles finished recently too. Anyway, there are oodles and oodles of prompts, spread out from March 1 to 31. A lot of them are awesome. Some fail like a failing thing. If there is one way not to phrase a yaoi crossdressing prompt, it's like this: "He may have been wearing a dress, but he was in no way submissive." *finger*
Darker Than Black: The first OVA episode is out. *EXITED FLAIL* Amber-Who-Is-Not-Amber was there! *EXITED FLAIL* I got Amber/Hei subtext!!! *EXITED FLAIL* Yes I did - shut up, this is my ship, the way he reacted to her was interesting. *EXITED FLAIL* Why was this episode not longer? That measley little plot point deserved an old-fashioned two ep arch all of its own. *EXITED FLAAAAAAAIL* No, seriously. I can't believe how short this was and how little they got out of the situation, not just between Hei and faux!Amber, but with Yin too. Having to fill the plotholes of a regularly sized series is no excuse to neglect your own storylines! YOU'RE AN OVA, WHY ARE YOU RUSHING THINGS? *FLAAAAAAIL* Also interesting to note is that Hei's doing the preview narration this time around, not Yin. He doesn't seem nearly as inclined towards poetic riddles either. XD *sits down on the studio's doorstep and waits for the next one*
4chan - and like hell I'm linking you there, I do value your collective sanity just a bit: I went to /m/ a couple of days ago because I didn't feel like talking to actual people, and I noticed several new boards had appeared. Among which.... /lit/. Fuck. I figured I'd wisely stay away, because, well, I know 4chan. But then I got curious and changed my mind. Fuck. So I read some of the discussions on /lit/, and to put it in that ever so eloquent internet way: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. MY BRAIN, IT'S MELTING. OH GOD MAKE IT STOP, MAKE IT STOP SOMEBODY PLEASE AAAAAAAAAGGHH.
Cozzybob: I yelled something about pirates at her and she yelled back. In other words, meme. :3
Reply to this meme by yelling 'we might be pirates', and I will give you five words that remind me of you.
Then post them in your journal and explain what they mean to you. Keep in mind that if I don't know you that well, your words might end up kind of odd or weird.
Pirate
XD This word's here because instead of actually yelling "we might be pirates!", I linked to
this, which I was in my turn linked to by
bearlyhapnin. :3 Other than that... well, okay, I confess. I am a pirate. In this day and age, who isn't, right? <.<;; The internet is like the deranged love-child of a library and a VCR, raised by the world's most geeky nerd. Until all of these wonderful shows become actually available where I'm at, mutant spawn is what I'll make do with. :P
Gundam Wing
My One True Fandom. *cuddles it* Fandoms come and go, some quicker than others, but GW is there to stay. It's been my main fandom for as long as I've been in fandom, and it doesn't look like that'll change any time soon. Fandom in the broadest sense of the word is a huge part of my life, and GW is a huge part of my fan-identity. It's probably grown into my DNA by now. XD And funny thing is, it still boggles my mind sometimes that I got into it at all. Not because it wasn't my genre or anything like that, but because I recognized it without remembering having ever seen it or heard of it before. I really have no other explanation for how I knew Trowa and Duo were Trowa and Duo in the HP x GW crossover that started it all other than my subconscious cheating in trying to guide me to my One True Fandom of Destiny. 83 To the best of my knowledge, GW has aired twice in the Netherlands: once in 2005, around the time I got into it - I did not watch it then, because it aired at six or seven on saturday morning, and that's just not how my internal clock works. I only found out it was airing when I'd long since gotten my hands on all the eps. The other time was when I was about twelve. We were on a no-borders-crossed vacation and the TV in our cottage had a whole bunch of stations we didn't get at home. (Come to think of it, it may have been a Flemish station instead, but oh well.)So one day at breakfast my brothers and I tuned into what I now recognize as Gundam Wing - for about ten minutes. I remember a scene between Relena and Dorothy in Relena's office in Sank, and a shot of an official looking building in the rain, a bit of space battle... and being incredibly confused and bored by all the incomprehensible political talk. So we changed the channel. :D See also:
Relena
<3
Oh man, Relena. Where do I even start? She is the main reason I love GW so much, for one. Without all the things she brings into the story, I don't think I would have been half as interested, if at all. Like I said earlier, I actually got into GW through fandom, and as you'll all know, much of fandom sucks horse shit when it comes to her. She stood out to me both because and in spite of that. Even in her fan-mangled form, she seemed like a likeable and interesting character, and the wildly varying opinions she garnered made her GW's greatest mystery I wanted to solve when I finally went looking for the actual episodes. I was biased in her favour from the start - I was rooting for the underdog like you wouldn't believe - but when I got around to really "meeting" her, to seeing who she really was, she surpassed all my expectations.
I've been in love ever since. :D Favourite character ever, no competition. There is literally no-one else who comes close. See also
the bit I wrote about her being my role model,
plushy!Relena picspam, or anything under Relena's tag, really. It is an unfortunate fact of life that I tend to become incoherent with glee when I'm asked to talk about her at random. XD

Icon
XD I assume this is about my default icon - people mention it all the time. Apparently it's considered universally adorable. :3 I don't know where I got it; I copied it off of someone else a very long time ago, when it hadn't even occurred to me yet that there were actual people out there making all the random icons I collected.
The Netherlands
Well. This is where I live. *motions around* Contrary to what the name suggests, it is only one country. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a part of Belgium or Germany. Contrary to what music may have taught you, there are no Dutch mountains. But everything you may have heard about our relationship with water and the Dutch being the spawn of Satan is correct. I live behind a dyke in a polder, and as a result I suffer culture shock whenever I'm more than 30 meters away from the nearest body of water and am continuously frustrated with the lack of translation options for the word sloot. Most sources I've tried suggest "ditch", but it seems to have all these connotations of being tiny and dirty and sewer-related that just don't fit the ones we have here. Spending time on the internet often makes me feel like a foreigner, so yay for everybody here learning three to six languages in secondary school.
