We knew it was coming: Changeling Ties

Aug 16, 2007 16:45

So I spent the last hour reading James's Changeling book. Outlined here's a quick sketch then a rough concept detail behind the cut, looking for ties or just comments on improvement. I haven't been able to read the whole book (he caught me and took it away) so not complete yet.

Name: Unknown
Kith/Seeming: Darkling/gravewight
Court: Fall, former summer
Virtue/Vice: Justice/Wrath
Profession: mortician
Concept: Agent of restless 'spirits'

I haven't really read the section about being pulled over the hedge so how/why/when that happened will come later, possibly be based on background ties. During her time in the fae world revolved around death. Whether cleaning the remains of battle or hunts, disposing of the remains of old 'toys', her tasks centered on dealing with the dead and dying slaves. After escaping the hedge she continues the path she learned, working as a mortician. Obsessed with the horrifying deaths she witnessed in the other realm she became convinced that the only real peace occurs after death, but that tdeath must be natural or chosen by ones own hand to allow the soul to be at true peace rather than cling to a life unlived. Without life death cannWhen she returned to the real world and found she had gained the ability to see the ghosts, or restless spirits of others, she began her quest of putting these ghosts to rest, or at least making them as comfertable as possible.

This quest original took her down the path of a vengeful fury, exacting revenge upon those responsible for wrongful deaths with an unmerciful fury. As time passed and endless stream of ghosts and death began to take its toll on the remains of her sanity, she turned from the wild fury of summer to the more calculated court of fall. Her obsession remains the same, only now she takes a more thoughtful approach to her work, dealing more in poetic justice than the fast and final judgements she formally passed.
