This morning I remembered I hadn't posted anything on here in a while, the best part of two months infact. I had come up with rough ideas in my head about what I was going to say, it was all light-hearted and jolly believe it or not (by my standards anyway) but having a busy day at work and all I figured it could do after I got home.
Having arived back, I've now cahnged my mind about what I want to talk about. This evening I've been fending off an army of teenagers who are throwing things at windows and trampling all over the garden such as it is. Now, I'm as fond of snow as the next guy, and even I can be tempted by snowballs, I certainly wouldn't want to stop people having fun but THERE ARE LIMITS. Charging through gardens and throwing ANYTHING hard against people's windows is just not on and it's something I'm particularly jumpy about after all the broken windows a few years back. I tried to be nice, really I did, but in the end I was left with no choice and had to call the police (which you need to do *before* the event for the insurance assessors to believe you, don't even get me started on them!). The police couldn't come despite there being a standing order in my area for them to break up groups of more than 3 kids, and why not? No manpower available, thus the teenagers remained at large to trample the garden, mess with the car and generally make a pain of themselves. So we come to what I'm sure will be a very controversial point to my rantings; this wouldn't have happened if the Conservatives were in charge. There, I've said it. Now before you all make your inevitable backlash against me think on this; why are the police short of manpower? Because they're short of money. Why are they short of money? Because the government is paying those teenagers to stay in school, it's paying that silly weekly allowance they get, it's paying staff, it's paying for buildings and facilities, it's even encouraging people to have more kids by giving them a whole army of tax breaks. We're all going soft on children and letting them run riot because "by understanding the problems on their own it'll help them become more responsible adults in the future" and worse still because it's a violation of their human rights to discipline them.
I'm aware that this is quite a selfish viewpoint, but quite frankly a pay rather more in taxes than I can afford, I work very hard & I work very long hours and it offends me that when I come home in the evening I have to put up with this rubbish. Just ARGH! *sigh*
