I really wanted to be a magician when I was in middle school. I had a bunch of tapes and one of those Huge box kits full of tricks and props that I'd practice in my room all the time. There's a video I still have of doing a Magic show in the living room with Lou as my MC/Assistant. Ripped off Johnny Carson's "Carnac" skit with the envelope trick. That was my favorite skit that he did in the show, and I loved it when he and Ed would start laughing before he even "revealed" the questions. Pen & Teller and Houdini were my heroes. Going into the Houdini shops in Vegas as a kid was like a dream, because any trick you buy, they make you swear to a magicians code and teach you how to do it. The card trick I bought I struggled with, but my dad was really good at it. Made the illusion that the card was levitating and floating around. His hand movements were always much more convincing. This video makes me wish I kept up with that. Maybe not to be a pro, but just to be able to cause that sort of wonderment in other people.
