I thought I would provide an update on my birthday, seeing as the entry I wrote earlier only covered the morning bit of it, and it wasn't exactly pleasant. Despite how angry that entry was, the rest of my day proved to be much better. People left me a good number of messages wishing me a happy birthday (like last year, some people I would have expected to send messages conspicuously didn't). That afternoon I went home to watch the dogs for the weekend; I was going to go to my cousin Jenn's wedding, but I had a piece being performed at the Student Composers Concert that Sunday and couldn't miss it. I was joined later by Sarah. My mom called to inform me that she and her friends had done some snooping and come up with tickets to the Bruce concert, a combination of handicap and scalper tickets. With that problem solved, I could focus more on the big day. Sarah gave me a Dwight Schrute bobblehead from "The Office," which pleased me greatly. Mom had left money for a pizza for dinner, but I decided to go out and we went to the Spotted Dog on Franklin Street. After this we walked around for a while and came back to my house, where we drank a lot and watched "Degrassi: The Next Generation."
Saturday we went on what I called a "CD Hunt," because I had several albums I wanted to buy from several places. So we did that, chilled at my house for a while, and then went to Tyler's that night. We spent most of the next day watching a strangely addictive reality show called "Playing It Straight," where this woman has to guess which of the men she's romancing are gay and which are straight. "This sweet midwestern girl left her home to meet fourteen men" starts the introductory voiceover, which I think is the most hilarious thing ever. Then my parents came home, I opened cards, and then headed back to school for the Student Composers Concert. The concert went really well - my performer overpedalled my piece in spots, but it got a very warm reception and several great comments from my composition professor. So, overall, I was pleased with how that went.
Coming soon: My reviews for "Harry Potter & The Order Of The Phoenix" (I know that it's been a long time coming, just be patient!) and "Eastern Promises."
