599 - [Dreamland, Don't Escape Me So Quickly]

Dec 03, 2008 08:40

After waking up this morning from an especially substantial dream state, I have never felt more like Dorothea Tanning, and by extension (for all I know) other Surrealist artists.

The real dizziness is a state of spirit so profound that the gulf which is then opened to our eyes is so rich in treasures that one will just want to grab them madly. But coming to the surface after entering that gully, we realize with terrible despair that we have left the most beautiful jewels down there and that we can never find them again.

Upon waking, I instantly knew that I wanted, perhaps had, to record my dream for later utilization, but I also knew it was nearly impossible. How could I ever do such detail justice? How could I ever remember everything that happened? Indeed, I had already forgotten how it began in the first place and as I slowly gained more consciousness of this reality, I continually lost focus of other particulars in the reality I had occupied only minutes before. And the interpretation, like almost all my dreams, would be incredibly difficult - my dreams often manage to escape the confines of any traditional dream dictionary, and the facets are generally in such a multitude that it is truly overwhelming.

Ah... I dare say that such is the conundrum of those of us who are blessed with the gift of the dream.
