Greetings
omgspnbigbangers! Thank you all so much for responding to Monday's poll. In light of your fabulous response and feedback and significant to overwhelming enthusiasm for three different challenges, we are happy to announce not one, but 3 new challenges.
And if that's not awesome enough, we are also running a special challenge for those who have already finished their bigbangs!
Lots of details to follow. This is your signup post. Keep reading for more info and instructions on how to sign up!
Challenge #1:micro-WriFo 2.0
What is it? A daily writing challenge lasting 14 days, just like the last micro-wrifo. Pick a daily word count, multiply it by the number of days you will be participating in the challenge to get your overall word count goal, and sign up. Then comment on the daily check-in posts with your word count. You must sign up for at least 1 word per day. Prizes will be awarded to those who 1) write every day, 2) meet their overall goal, 3) write at least 20k over the course of the challenge, and 4) finish their fics while writing for the challenge. The challenge will run from Thursday, March 28, 2013 PDT, throught Wednesday, April 10, 2013 PDT.
To sign up: Post a comment with the challenge name (micro-wrifo 2.0), your username, daily goal, and overall goal
Challenge 2: Easter Bunny Word Hunt
What is it? Just like micro-wrifo 2.0, but lasting only 4 days: Thursday, March 28, 2013 PDT, through Sunday, March 31, 2013 PDT. You pick a daily goal and an overall goal that is your daily goal times the number of days you will participate in the challenge. Awards will be awarded on the same bases as for micro-wrifo 2.0 and will be bunny/easter egg themed. Report yohr daily word count on the corresponding daily check-in post.
Extra rule: If you want to sign up for both micro-wrifo 2.0 and the Easter Bunny Word Hunt (EBWH), you can. However... your EBWH word count must be over and above your micro-wrifo 2.0 word count. What does that mean?
Example: You are signing up for both micro-wrifo 2.0 and EBWH. Your daily word count goal for micro-wrifo 2.0 is 250. Your daily word count goal for EBWH is 1000. To meet your daily goal for both challenges, you must write 1250 words (250+1000). You pick how you allocate words between the challenges. (I will go off what you put in your comments on the respective posts.) Remember, you get awards both for writing every day and for making your overall goal... so if you write, say, 250 words, you might still want to allocate some (or most) of those words to the EBWH so you get credit for writing for both challenges for that day. But it's totally up to you.
Challenge 3: Speed Writing Mania
What is it? A timed writing challenge in the style of write-or-die. A bunch of people get online at the same time and then write as many words as possible in a set period of time.
When is it? We will decide in the polls. There may be more than one.
How will we make this work? The timing of the challenge will be announced in a mod post to this com. At the designated time a "start" post will go up. Everyone participating starts writing. At the designated stopping time (30 or 60 minutes later) a stop post will go up. Everyone participating stops their writing and reports their word count. After a short break the process will repeat. Will take no longer than 2.5 hours.
Now for that poll...
Poll Speed Writing Mania All times are in Pacific Daylight Time. Please check a time zone converter to find out the time in your time zone!
