Can I just take a second to say, right off the bat, that I kind of live for Comic Con season? Even if I didn't get to go this year, the week before the con is usually filled with mind-numbingly, seizure-inducing, awesome press releases.
So:
The Legend of Korra:
When I rolled over this morning and grabbed my laptop, the last thing I expected was a huge freaking press release from Nickelodeon about The Legend of Korra. So when I clicked on to my Reader, it was kind of like Christmas snuck up behind me and hit me over the head with a
cricket bat of awesome.
"The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang - a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern “Avatar” world, Republic City - a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang’s son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large."

GAHHHH.
Okay. My thoughts:
- More Avatar steampunk? YES PLEASE.
- Not included in the press release was an earlier statement concerning
Wei Bei, an additional character. Just fyi.
- She already has three of the elements mastered. Does that mean a shorter series?
- Aang and Katara procreated? Ew. [Uh, Alyssa is kind of responsible for making me be into Zutara]
- TEENAGE AVATAR! No more pre-pubescent monks! Which kind of guarantees romance.
- I can totally see myself getting behind Korra/Tenzin. If he's not super old :/
- And if that doesn't work, maybe Bryke will finally give us a Fire Nation love interest?
- Old people I expect to see:
- Old Zuko. How can they deny the fandom that?!
- Old Toph. Imagine the old-lady hilarity possibilities.
- Mouth Frothing Guy/[Insert Vegetable Here] Merchant. It'll happen.
- So, whereas ATLAB addressed genocide and world war, it seems that ATLK is going to be on the subject of discrimination. Yay for even more mature plot issues!
- Can we just take a second to admire the genius that is Bryke's artistic ability? I mean, my god.
Honestly, the only think i'm unhappy with is that there was no official release date given. The release slapped the series with a 2011 label, but that could mean anything from the spring release season to the fall one. Either way, it's too long.
I fully expect to have more information on this as Comic Con progresses. If we're lucky, we might even get an animated preview!
In other waaay less important news Jersey Shore season 2 is still happening, with
all of the cast having signed on with the exception of Angelina.
J.J. Abrams talks about Fringe, Undercover.
Olivia Munn invades Chuck. Hot damn, I remember the first year she was on Attack of the Show.
