469 Project

Tumblr recommended nyc-subway to me this afternoon. It's a blog of all different kinds of subway photos. I started opening tabs to reblog left and right, but then a thought occurred to me:

What if I didn't rely on someone else's photos or blog? What if I took my own pictures and had my own adventure?

For some reason that I'm not going to question, my TransitChek card still works. I'm gonna take advantage of it and get my butt to all 469 stations in the subway system through November, tackling one route a day. There are 24 routes, if you count the three shuttles separately and the Z train, and 27 days left, so I think I can do it!

Of course, I'm not the first person to have this idea, because the Subway Challenge is a thing. It sounds tempting, but there's no way I can do it by myself safely, not when the record-holders have all taken more than 21 hours to complete it. The Subway Challenge is a little bit different, though, because I think you just have to be on a train that stops in all the stations, not that you have to get out and stand on each platform for a couple of minutes, which is what I plan on doing (pictures for proof!), and why I can only do one route a day.

It should be fun, we'll see how it goes. I've even thought of a couple of trips I can include for bonus material!

...is a nablopomo entry still valid if you have an alarm reminding you to post? Because I remembered earlier but I know I had an alarm so I didn't do it the moment I remembered (and I had nothing of interest to say anyway). Hmm. Either way.
