i was just that upset about r. a. dickey lol

I couldn't even begin to tell you what happened in the last two weeks, so let's just recap the last two days.

Went to see The Hobbit on Saturday morning with Laura, Erica, Fred, and Es. Had an awesome time. :D Misty Mountains Cold was in my head the rest of the day, and I was quietly giggling to myself how the screen version was much better than my fifth grade class play. We found Dan afterwards, had curry for lunch, headed to Kino to look at stuff (Erica had us pick out our own Christmas presents), and then home.

Es made a cake and I made oatmeal raisin cookies for the skating event. My cookies were monstrous and though the recipe said it yielded 24 walnut-sized balls of dough, it was more like TWICE that, so I had 36 very large cookies. They were all delicious, though. And gone. XD

Skating yesterday was loads of fun, and I actually caught flack for wearing my Canucks sweater: TWICE. Emily and I were going around and I saw a dude in a Rangers jacket, and I said that I wanted to compliment him on it but it would be awkward considering what I was wearing. After going through a fanciful scenario in which we tried to convince the guy that "I'm actually a Rangers fan, I swear!" one of the skate guards whizzed by and whispered "Let's go Rangers!" to me. XD I got a pass because the guy on the back of my sweater's American. And then later on, I shouted at someone in our group from the edge of the rink and Rangers Jacket Guy was there, and he gave me shit. XD I'm glad other people saw this happen because it sounds like I'm making it up.

After skating, we had a white elephant gift exchange. We're really bad at it because we like giving not-shitty gifts. XD My gift was a little Lego-esque set that makes an owl and a sheet of stickers. The gift I wound up with was a bag of mints, which were promptly passed around much like my cookies (sharing is caring!). But the best gift belonged to Marissa, who picked up a book entitled Fashion Cats.

No one understood what it was at first, especially since it was just an image of a dressed-up cat on the cover. She kept trying to pass it off to others, but no one took it. And then we realized what Fashion Cats actually was: comic fucking gold. The entire book is photos of this woman's two cats dressed up in these outfits that she made for them, and -- while the outfits are very well-made -- the cats have nothing short of murder in their eyes, especially the solid white one. Take a look at some of it, it's great. So after nearly pissing ourselves with laughter over the book, it was decided that Fashion Cats was pretty much the greatest thing ever and someone NEEDS to make macros out of it.

The greatest discovery came this morning, when I Googled it because I was still giggling. Apparently, the creator hears voices, but claims it's just God telling her to "do something," and that something has turned out to be "make clothes for cats and take pictures of them in it." She also values the opinions of only fortune tellers or people with mystical powers. Fashion Cats just got a bajillion times better, dear god.

After the white elephant exchange and once our laughter-tears were wiped away, we sang a couple of Christmas carols in the park before heading out to Dave and Buster's. Dealing with the check there was nightmarish, but we muscled through it and managed to play a few games, too. Es and I jumped on the train just after 10:30 and on a Sunday night, made it home from Midtown in 65 minutes somehow. I cannot fathom how that happened, but I was grateful because it was very cold. XD

We've been sleeping most of the day today because this weekend has been so grueling, but dinner soon and then new year funtimes. Happy 2013, everyone!

holiday, day off
