Merry Christmas

Well, I'm having an OK Christmas so far.

Our annual Christmas Eve Eve party was great, saw some friends I haven't seen for ages, which was nice, and then yesterday saw more friends down the pub, some of which I hadn't seen in over 3 years, which was really great.

Had a fairly quiet day today, got a pretty decent haul of gifts, a few DVDs and stuff, a game, the new Kings of Leon CD, a Stephen Fry book and other miscellaneous small stuff.

One of the things that did make my day was that my friend Sarah bought me a bottle of stupidly strong chilli sauce, plus a keyring which is a photo of the two of us at the top of the tallest peak in England. I was hoping somebody would buy me chilli sauce but not sure that any of my friends would actually think to get some for me, because it's a bit of an unconventional gift, plus I'm not sure how many of my friends actually know that I like stupidly hot food. I was so sure it was a small bottle of some sort of alcohol. Also the keyring is a really cool little gift, I don't think anybody has ever gotten me anything quite so personalised before.

Still, I can't help but feel a little disappointed in some way that I can't quite put my finger on. I guess the Christmas thing is starting to wear off from when I was a kid. Christmas used to be amazing but obviously I've grown up a lot. I suspect I've said the same thing the last 4 or 5 christmases. I think part of it is also that I'm Single for Christmas again. Generally I'm not too bothered about being single - it's not that I wouldn't like to be in a relationship, but I'm also not desperate to get into one, it's just that Christmas is really a time of year when it's nice to have somebody special to buy gifts for and share and enjoy things together.

Ah well, next year should shape up differently, especially if I can get myself into a decent uni.
