Dilemna

Well, I'm working back at the joinery again for summer. The business is doing well, with a turnover of over £1m/year, and my brother and the other guy who own it want me to do CAD work for them. I'm confident this is something I could do and would be good at, and I would probably also enjoy it. My brother would teach me how to do it, and apparently it's not too hard. However, it'd be full time and if I were to take it on I would have to leave my uni course. They said they could pay me £30k/year. I'd probably start on a bit lower, then within a couple of months when I've picked it up the money would go up. They would also want me to help with the general running of the business eventually.

I'm tempted. It sounds like a good opportunity. My brother's company is quickly becoming one of the top producers of hardwood conservatories in the country, and in fact may already be about the second biggest, second only to a company who employs 150 people, whereas this company employs less than 15.

The thing is, I'm enjoying my uni course reasonably well. I'm doing pretty well at it, but then also if I were to go into game programming, I'd probably start on way less than £30k and without so much opportunity to earn more. I do think I could enjoy CAD, and I could always try it for a couple of months over the summer, or I could just keep working on the joinery side of things.

There's also the fact that everybody is saying there's a recession on the way. I don't see conservatories as a recession-proof business.

What do I do?
