To finish up my recap of Phantom, never again will i spring for the cheap seats, because people with poor theatre posture will get in the way...the Orchestra was incredible (did i mention that?). At times it definitely overwhelmed everything else that was going on, making it unbelievable. Haha, on a positive note: I've pulled all the JCS music i've got on this old computer out, and am now rocking out.
I suppose, listening to this, it's an interesting juxtaposition, how easily it is to make out the lyrics of mp3s, and follow exactly what's being said in the song, and then during the actual production, the music no longer takes a background-role, and becomes the dominant force that moves the play, and the lyrics are more or less filling in the gaps that remain. That's not to say that the lyrics fall by the wayside and aren't of monumental importance in and of themselves, the contrary, in fact...hahaha i'm kind of realizing that basically the only thing i've said here is, "Music is really good. And so are the words." Her Majesty's Royale Theatre just seems to magnify all of it.
In the same vein, this was especially noticable during Masquerade, since, in the version i have on my computer, the phantom seems very melodious, and a lot of the disdain and anger in his voice really came out in the production.
Moving on to far less exciting things, such as work. I've more or less caught up on exactly what i'm supposed to have learned (and what is it, that i'm supposed to have learned~!) (haha i know i'm clever). It's not exactly rocket science i'm going to be performing...it's more or less being able to look up numbers, and figuring out who to email to get stuff done. I quite easily could have trained for this entire job over the phone. My trip to london was simply bait to lure me into the position. Bait, which i am MORE than happy to feast upon...like the little lightbulb of an angler fish...hahaha thinking of bad analogies, i asked Preston (works in raleigh) if he wanted to "Scooby-doo a problem" (Meaning split it up and meet somewhere in the middle, with the entire mystery solved)...i could tell from the way he IM'd back that he thought i was retarded. It didn't matter much, since in response, i basically gave the entire thing to him and said, "here then, you fix it."
Anyway, today at lunch, i went down the escalator in the mall across the street, and had decided on some asian food, only to find that the line extended into the far back reaches of the room, and decided to skip it, and go get a meat pie (OH MY GOD. I want to start a pie shop in america, simply because they are SPECTACULAR. Chicken and Mushroom pie with Double Mash and Gravy Mmmmmm). anyway, halfway to the pie shop, i decide that i really DO want asian noodles, and back to wasabi-ville, to get in line, which had died Waaaay down (still existed, but was much smaller).
So i'm standing in line minding my business, when an employee asks me what i want, i tell him chicken noodles, and he writes it down on a lid, and hands me a piece of paper with a number on it (41). Later, i am to discover that this means i can leave line and pay for my food, and pick my food up later. Unfortunately, "Later" wasn't immediately, so i stay in line, and order another box of noodles. It's a minute after that, that i FINALLY figure out how this grand scheme is playing out, so i slip out of line, and walk towards the register to pay. Except they call out "41!!" and i raise my hand, reach out, grab my box of food, and am promptly pushed out of the way.
Not allowed to pay, just pretty much jostled out of line, and i try to get back in (feebly), to no avail. The asian people are completely ignoring me.
So lunch today, was free. Granted, i am now a thief, but in my defense, it wasn't my fault.
I think i'll get snacks and goodies for my coworkers tomorrow...or friday...whichever turns out to be more convenient. Which probably means i won't do it at all...but i *have* to...I won't be able to live with myself if i don't, since they've all been so inviting and friendly.
Tomorrow night is Company Drink night! (Meaning we all go out for drinks together!) And Les Mis! And then possibly a return to company drink night for more drinks! Which reminds me, i need to plot out the path to the theater, so i don't have to do anything like that during work, since i don't like the lack of privacy (heehee said "priv-acy" like an english person) that everyone has here. They don't have cubes. Just open desks...Anyway, i'm going to do that, and hopefully knock back a little Thoreau before beddybye.
