Crew wanted Noonan, league rejected it
So, according to Brian Bliss, the Crew and NE agreed to terms so the Crew could have Noonan's rights. Noonan wants to come back to MLS, but the league won't let Columbus pay Aalesunds the amount of compensation that the Crew is willing to pay and it won't let the Crew pay Noonan the amount of what his old contract was. I think. (And it's not a question of cap space - Columbus has enough, plus two players were just waived.)
So basically the league's management is a) stupid, b) jackasses (I wonder what would happen if LA wanted Noonan), or c) both.
ALSO, if you are a Colorado, Kansas, New York, or Salt Lake fan, it'd be cool if you'd give this a look and perhaps help out. :)
