-The US is now up 3 spots to 17th in the latest FIFA ranking. Mexico managed to move up a spot after losing to us, although it's only because Nigeria moved down.

-The U-20s clinched qualification for the U-20 World Cup in Egypt this fall after a 2-0 victory over El Salvador, goals by Brek Shea and Brian Ownby, red cards for Brek Shea and Jorge Flores. Match report, Quote sheet. Previously, the US tied 0-0 with Honduras and beat Jamaica 3-0, goals by Peri Marosevic, Dilly Duka, and Billy Schuler. The US now advances to the semifinals, where they will play the second-place team from group B. This team will not be Mexico, as they failed to qualify after losing 1-0 to T&T and 2-0 to Canada. LOL.

-The WNT are playing in the final of the Algarve Cup against Sweden at 12 PM ET today. They've shut out all their competition thus far. The blog has some pretty cool stuff, as always.

-8 days until First Kick 2009! :D
