Mum told me a story about an elderly couple in Northampton who froze to death in their home. Their bungalow was unheated, the wife was in a wheelchair and the husband was caring for her on his own. They'd asked for help with the heating, and were surrounded by neighbours but one night the cold got the better of them and they both died and weren't found for a couple of days.
I'm sorry but that is absolutely the most depressing thing I've heard in such a long time. I can't even begin to imagine what that would feel like, knowing you're alone in this and you're going to die.
