DAY 9, Morning

Dec 20, 2007 11:01

They had arrived in the village too late in the evening to hope for any food from the one inn, but the mayor's wife had saved some roast and bread from her own table for them. The inn itself had only reserved two rooms, one for Gisela, and one for her guards. She begrudgingly gave up her single-bed corner room to Gun and shared the double quarters ( Read more... )

"How would you know if you don't try it." She hissed, trying so hard not to raise her voice. "Are you a healer, Cheri?"

"What a stupid question. You know I'm not but I'm also not blind. Some are acting."

After leaving the bath Gun had 'borrowed' a change of clothes from a visiting dignitary and then 'borrowed' a horse ( ... )

Gisela turned her head to snap back at Cheri, but caught Gun pushing through the last of the villagers. From the gasps and murmurs in the crowd, she could tell something was wrong before he reached her.

She was already reaching for the boy he carried the moment he was free of those gathered. After checking him over briefly, she gently took the boy away from Gun and knelt on the floor. With the child settled on her lap, she curled over him. A green light spread from her hands to envelope all of her and the child, and everything and one around her was forgotten.

Gisela snatched the boy from his arms and proceeded to ignore him.

Best to be ignored than to have someone comment on how he acquired expensive clothes or where he'd been.

As long as the boy got better.

Then Gun would go back and beat the living shit out of the man who allowed the horse to so wrecklessly escape.

It was several long minutes before her light faded and Gisela sat up a bit to adjust her hold on the boy. He was still unconscious, but breathing and no longer pale. She wiped the sweat beaded on her brow with her sleeve and looked up at those who were milling around to see what had happened.

The mayor stepped forward quickly. "The baker says he knows who the child belongs to. We can put him up in my room until his folks are brought." He then took the boy from her and bellowed at the people to get out of his way as he made his way to the back of the inn.

Gisela sighed and rose just enough to plant herself in a chair. "Thank you, Gun. I don't think he would have survived if you hadn't brought him so quickly."

She bent over her knees. "I think I'm done for today. Cheri, please dismiss the rest of the villagers." There was no one left that needed her immediate attantion.

I smiled, what Gisela did was surely impressive. "Alright."

I clap my hands to get the crowd's attention. "Sorry, people we're closed now. Leave!"

A woman started to whine and I glared at her. "I said we're not treating people anymore."

She muttered something and I gasped. "What did you say!?" How dare she insult me! I stormed towards her, if she wasn't going to leave voluntarily I'll give her a little nudge.

Gisela blinked and looked up at Cheri. What? No arguing, no griping, just "alright"? And was that...a smile?

Of course, then she had to go storming off after one of the more reluctant villagers.

"Cheri! Please don't give me more work to do!"

Gun chuckled softly at the scene.

He felt relieved knowing that the boy would be fine. With as tuckered out as Gisela looked there should definitely be enough time to scare some responsibility into the man who owned the run-away horse.

The woman had already dissapeared before I had a change to reach her. Good, she deserved to be scared.

"I turned back to Gisela and Gun. You look like you need a healer yourself." I said to Gisela.

Gisela shook her head. "No. I'm just a bit winded. I can rest on the way home." She slowly got to her feet, and stood still a moment when she felt a a bit dizzy. "We should see to the wagon, and the horses."

I sigh. "I'll see to the horses and wagon. You rest." That'll be my good deed for the day, probably for the year.

I went to the owner of this, not so well kept, inn. Within an hour everything was ready for departure.

It took a great deal of will-power to sit off to the side and let Cheri do her job. Even though she allowed it, she crept outside and sat on the steps of the inn to "supervise"--when she wasn't staring off into space from losing focus or dozing off.

When she saw that everything was ready to go, she approached the wagon. She was going to thank Cheri for the help, but managed to forget by the time she got there. She climbed up onto the wagon and looked around. "Where did Gun go?"

((OOC: Belle, I assume Gun would have taken this opportunity to go beat some sense into someone.))

Gun had just finished beating a man unconscious, but not before the man swore he'd be more responsible.

Hopefully he wouldn't forget that vow now that he probably had a little brain damage.

Oh well.

He was approaching the wagon, trying to look nonchalant and hope that no one missed his presence.

"You called, my lady?"

"Autobots, transform and roll out!" Oops...wrong movie

"Ready whenever you are," he answered.
