Day 98, morning

Jan 03, 2013 11:19

Bert was feeling a lot better about things. He wasn't fighting with Gisela anymore, he could go home if he wanted (though coming back was tricky), and he was having a pretty good morning work out. He was pushing some dummies over when he saw a few strangers to the field coming down. He recognized the kid at least, but they had swords and it was ( Read more... )

(for when we're ready for all three)

Bert felt uneasy after he left Gisela. She seemed to be taking it very seriously, when he thought Josak was playing around. Maybe he should refuse after all? He doesn't have magic or sword skills and in a world like this, all he knew how to do was through a few fists and run. He wasn't stealthy or smart. He was just big and not too bright. He wasn't built for spying. He was the bull in a china shop.

Outside the door he let out a heavy sigh and went inside. He might have been a couple minutes late, but Gisela would never forgive him if he wandered off with just a note again.

"Second in command..." Yozak hummed. "Possibly. The estate is used as something of a waypoint, so we may get lucky."

Yozak emerged from his drawers with a triumphant shout, a handful of bras in hand, all of them various size. And just in time to see the door open. He waved them cheerfully in Bert's direction. "You made it! We're just getting ready."

He sifted through the bras and selected a rather generous set for himself and tossed the rest on the bed with the rest of the clothes. "Help yourself."

Bert made a rather confused and disgusted face with the bras being waved at him. He wasn't sure he wanted to know what he was walking into, but seeing as Gunter had his dress down around his waist and was trying to fit one on, he had a pretty good idea.

He grunted a bit and remembered what Gisela told him. He really didn't want to do this, but Josak said to. "Thanks..." he mumbled as he looked through the pile, trying to find the one with the widest band. Josak was rather broad himself, so he hoped one of these would fit. He pulled off his shirt and found one he thought might be ok. He'd taken enough of them off of women along the way, but he was having the damnedest time trying to put one on.

Gunter got himself situated and was about to look for some stuffing when he noticed Bert's plight and moved to help him. "It's not as easy putting it on as getting one off. Let me help you."

Gunter was met with a grunt, but compliance. He smiled behind Bert, trying not to laugh at him.

Ha! Yozak smirked, glad to see he wouldn't have to fight with Bert over the uniform, and pulled his dress down enough to get his own bra on with practiced ease. He stuffed it full of socks and readjusted the dress, pleased with the results.

"Lucky for you," he said to Bert, tearing open another package, "No heels." He held up a pair of large, dressy shoes with adjustable straps. They were ordered to fit the men who were meant to go along instead, so he hoped Bert and Gunter has similar sized feet. "But we should do something about that face and hair first."

Bert looked down at his new chest and frowned. He was hating this idea more and more. He had to keep reminding himself that this was for Gisela. All of this bullshit was for her. And girls shoes looked ridiculous in mens sizes.

"This is the worst day ever," he mumbled, not really meant to be heard. "So then, what do you need me to do?" He didn't like where this was continuing. But he knew he wasn't going to be very lovely.

Gunter finished adjusting himself and fixed his dress properly. He had a natural beauty to him already, but he did feel like going a little further. This was actually quite fun so far. He rummaged around in a drawer and pulled out a long brown wig. It was a little matted but nothing a hair brush and some water couldn't fix. "I never quite imagined you as a brunette, but we don't have much choice, do we? Though, your eyebrows are still blonde. Josak, I believe this is out of my league."

"Not a problem." Yozak was already piling supplies on his desk. Powders and creams of every color, applicators and brushes. He kicked a chair out toward Bert. "Sit your butt down."

"Gunter, there's tights in the last package, if you want to break that open."

He began to pick through his supplies and compare colors to the color of the wig.

Bert snorted and sat down. He looked at the pile of supplies that were all set out and grimaced. "I guess I can't back out now, can I?" He knew girls would spend a lot of time with make up and he wasn't really sure why. Though some of the ones that were in and out of his hotel rooms, he managed to catch without make up and he was thankful they wore it. But did it really need to take this much effort?

Gunter kept watch from the corner of his eyes. Josak would probably work some sort of magic and make him somewhat passable. There were several sets of tights, to which he found the smallest and proceeded to put on. It had been a long time since he was in any sort of get up like this, and if he remembered correctly, it was a bit of a fun evening, which made all the effort worth it. Though, he doubted this one would have nearly as much fun, but at least he was familiar with this process. Once he adjusted the shoes to fit him better, he sat back on the bed, playing with the end of one of his braids, and watching Josak transform Bert.

Yozak gave Bert a comforting pat on the shoulder. "Nope." He was grinning like a loon, however. He had a small jar in one hand, and a brush in the other. With even strokes, he began to change the pale tint of Bert's brows so they better matched the wig. Then he could move on to applying foundation and colors that would soften him up some. He was still going to come off as burly. They would just have to claim he came from the deep mountains, where the stock was hardy.

At least Gunter was pretty enough to get away with practically nothing at all, and Yozak was practiced enough at his own preparation that he could get himself ready to go in no time. Once Bert was done, they could be on their way shortly.

(OOC: I don't know how I keep missing the tags!!)

Grumpy wasn't enough to describe Bert's displeasure with this. His head was itchy from the wig, the make up smelled funny and he wondered how girls could stand wearing a bra. It was tremendously annoying. He should buy Gisela flowers just for enduring all of this. He could only hope the mission wouldn't take too long and they could get home in one piece as soon as possible ( ... )

With a flourish, Yozak leaned away from Bert. "And there we have it! Lady Adelbert-a!" He hopped up from where he was sitting to get his own face made up, taking half the time as he already knew exactly which colors suited him and the dress, and how to apply them in timely manner. "There are papers to sign on the desk, ladies. The ones on the left are for employment, and require your real names, unless you're in this for the fun of it and don't want to be paid. The one on the right only needs a forgary. Make it a pretty one."

Bert looked at the papers he couldn't read. "Does it matter that my signature doesn't look much like any of this writing here?" And what kind of name was he going to choose for himself? He needed something that he'd not forget, so it should be easily transferable to his own name, but he was having a terrible time trying to think of something that didn't sound like a viking name. Though, with the way he looked, it might be more appropriate. And with his true lack of creativity, Josak's joking in calling him Adelbert-a wasn't necessarily a bad suggestion, at least Berta could work. He could remember it in case someone spoke to him and, well, he wasn't nearly pretty enough for a true pretty name. "And I guess Berta is fine. If someone could write that for me too ( ... )

Yozak had forgotten about Bert's not knowing their language. It was easy when the doubles - no matter where they were from - arrived understanding and speaking the language (or seemingly so). "Sign your own name however you like. Doesn't matter," he said, smearing red over his lips. "If Gunter can alter his penmanship, he can sign your employee papers. If not, I'll do it in a second."

Satisfied that he was as perfect as he could be, he fluffed his hair back, twisting a few curls so they were a little more pronounced. He moved to the table to sign his own papers. He left a sloppy X where his own name should be, having never really got into the habit of signing his own name. And penned a ridiculously loopy, swirly, elaborate name on his fake papers.

"Adelia is fine." Whatever they chose for him was just fine. The sooner this was done with, the better. He took the quill and made some squiggly lines. All that was recognizable was an A, and what might have been a few crossed Ts. At least, recognizable to anyone that knew roman letters. Looked like there was no turning back now. He wished he hadn't gone for a bath.

"I'm afraid I've never been able to permit myself to write indiscriminately. My apologies." Gunter moved away from the desk and sat back on his bed, patiently waiting for all the affairs to be in order. "But we can always claim that Adelia wasn't educated, which is true for a number of rural towns, I believe. At least, the ones Anissina hasn't gotten her hands into for spreading women's education." He just had to remember to keep his own intelligence in check. He could play flighty. At least, short term. It was hard if he had to do it for too long.

Yozak nodded. "Most house staff aren't, unfortunately. Especially where we're going. So be careful about that." He was looking more at Bert when he said that. Though he didn't think they had much to worry about. "I would suggest just keeping your voice turned off at all times." He didn't think Bert's voice would carry over well into feminine tones. "If you have to talk, whisper."

He folded up the employment papers and tucked them down the front of his dress. Shoes were buckled on, and that was that. "Alright!" he clapped. "Shall we?"

"Right. I'll be like the little mermaid. Can't use the voice." Which should help things by not saying something completely ridiculous.

Gunter looked at Bert curiously. "The little mermaid? I'm not sure I know what you mean, but if that's what helps you, then all the better!" Gunter smiled and sounded like he was going to enjoy the day. He knew what was important and no matter how much fun he could have, he had to not get carried away. Admittedly, he didn't much like his falsetto, but it would be adequate enough for the day. "Lead the way~"

"It's an Earth thing." Bert mumbled as he followed behind the men that seemed a bit too into this. He didn't feel liking having to try and explain Disney or movies or even animation. He wasn't sure he even could.

From the castle, there was a little ride to an inn, where they traded wagons, and joined a few other ladies (actual ladies) heading off to the same location. The estate itself was nestled a few miles outside of the village, down a well-kept road and mostly hidden behind a grove of trees.

Yozak pulled the employment papers from his dress as they pulled up the house, and was the first one off the wagon when it rolled to a stop. A man in a blue suit stood waiting for them. Yozak greeted him with a smile, and handed the papers over, introducing himself as "Ann", and his companions, Lova and Amelia.

The man looked over the papers, muttered over them, make some under-breath remarks about size and stature, and moved on to the other new workers.
