Day 92 - Early Morning - Gise's New Bedroom Chamber

Jun 23, 2012 22:55

Gise was in bed very comfortably and woke to the sweet smell of flowers from the gardens of the castle.  She opened her eyes and stretched her arms up and her legs out as she yawned.  She vigorously threw the sheets to the side and pulled herself to sit on the side of the bed.  She got up and walked to the window and threw open the curtains and ( Read more... )

Gisela wasn’t sure what to wear. She didn’t plan on going to the infirmary today (maybe later tonight when she had a free moment). She settled on a simple blouse and pants, and her boots. She was pulling her thick hair back in its braid when she heard the knock on her door. Bert had gone earlier, to work out or something, and she didn’t think he would knock.

Holding the end of her braid so it didn’t unravel, she moved to the door and pulled it open. “Oh, Gise,” she smiled. “I was going to come get you.” She stepped aside, giving her twin room to enter. “But this is fine. Come in. I’m almost done.” She eyed the uniform in Gise’s hands, but didn’t comment on it yet (as she couldn’t see clearly what it was).

"Thank you ma soeur!" She stepped inside the room and closed the door. "I found this among the clothes you so generously donated and I was not sure if I could wear this or if it was an official uniform so I decided to bring it to you." She said indicating the white uniform over her arm. "I was also hoping you would go with me into the town to do some shopping, but unfortunately I do not have any local argent...I think that would be money. I need to also find some herbs to burn in my room to cleanse it spiritually, not that I think Bert had any bad energy, he is pretty pure...in his own way." She smiled sunnily at her twin at that remark then she remembered that she was barefoot and pointed to her feet. "I also think I should get some shoes." She trailed off and giggled.

Gisela took the uniform from Gise, confused as to how it wound up with the other woman. It was possible she had accidentally brought it to the other room. She would not have given it intentionally, as the uniforms were issued according to rank and division. The white of hers was not a personal preference, but marked her as a military healer. “Thank you. I didn’t mean to put it with the other clothes. Just set it on the bed ( ... )

Gise placed the uniform on the bed. "Your hair looks very nice in that plait. When I spoke of Bert, I was not being disparaging, I was merely pointing out that he is an innocent in the ways of magick and spirituality. We would call him a sleeper, if he has powers and has not awoken to them yet, and a mundane if he has no powers. Which of your shoes would you recommend for the conditions and my outfit? I am not sure boots would look good with a dress such as this."

"Oh, um... I wear boots with everything." Gisela frowned thoughtfully at the closet. She didn't have much in the way of shoes. A spare pair of boots, some fancy heels for social gatherings. There were some sandals in the back she never wore, so they were practically like new. "I suppose the sandals?" The heels were not practical, and Gise didn't want the boots.

"Bert is human. I wouldn't expect him to have magic. His counterpart in this world, Adelbert, however, does."

Her eyes grew wide and she smiled in joy. "Those sandals are parfait!" She took them and put them on her feet. She then replied to Gisela's statement about Bert, "But if he is human, wouldn't I be human? I have powers, but not the same as back home. More powerful, more frightening." She shivered at the remembrance of what she did and hugged herself, closing her eyes at the same time.

"I really don't know. I heard there are mazoku on Earth, but your Earth is obviously not the same as where the king is from." She moved to lay a hand on Gise's back. "Your powers seem a bit different than those of this world. I won't know for sure until we start working with them. But for now, let's go into town."

"Okay, allons-y!" Gise started to walk out the door with a spring in her step. She waited at the doorway for Gisela since she wasn't entirely clear on how to get out of the castle. "Is there anything you need in town? We should not just go for me. I would feel that I was putting you out if we did."

"I might find something, but there is nothing I absolutely need." Gisela met her at the door and proceeded through it. "It's no trouble. I don't mind helping."

She brought them through the halls to the main doors leading out into the courtyard. "Can you ride?"

"Mais Oui, I used to ride barefoot and without a saddle back home on our farm in Belgium. Just show me to the horses and I'll ride." She responded with excitement, she hadn't ridden a horse since she left home and missed it thoroughly especially considering that the only places she could ride where she was in the United States was in the wilderness, and only if she already owned a horse, which she did but back in Belgium.

Gisela nodded and started toward the stables. "I can't say I've ever ridden in such a fashion. You can take my horse. I'll take my father's." She was certain he would not mind.

She gave a stablehand a few quick orders, and he hurried off to prepare the steeds.

Gise waited patiently for the stablehand to bring the horses around and started to skip in a circle. "I am in a good mood today. Did you sleep well last night? What does your horse look like? Is it male or female? Does it have a name?"

Gisela stayed where she was, and simply watched Gise, confused. If she had been through what the other had the day before, she would still be in bed, sobbing. For a week. Maybe more.

"I slept well enough," she admitted. She looked back at the stable, though it would still be a moment before the horses were ready. "A mare. Brown. Her name is Valerian."

Gise stopped skipping and looked at Gisela clasping her hands together and smiled. "What a perfect name for a healer's steed. And a mare, how sacred. From my practice, females are the most sacré for it is the female who creates life, and how fitting for a healer. Do you know the full uses of valerian in healing?"

"I use it regularly. We have documented all of its known uses. There are some growing in the garden." She saw a young boy leading both horses out of the stable and raised a hand to greet him. Both steeds were dressed and ready. Hers the smaller brown mare, and her father's a sturdy spotted gray. She moved to take the gray and patted his nose.

Gise bounced over to the mare and started to speak to her. She got calm just before she got to the mare and walked slowly to her head. She slowly moved her hand up to the side of Valerian's head and calmly placed it on her cheek without breaking eye contact. She whispered calmly into her ear, "I would like your permission to ride you, if you wish me to please nod your head and whinnie." Valerian did just that and started to nuzzle against Gise's hand. Gise patted Valerian's cheek gently and said more clearly, "I am going to mount you now, is that ok?" Valerian whinnied and nodded again. Gise then walked over to Valerian's side and stepped up to get on her. Once on she leaned forward and said to Valerian, "You ready now ma amie?" She whinnied again. Gise said to Gisela, "Whenever you are ready."
