DAY 85: Early Evening

Jan 04, 2012 10:02

Julia entered the garden around noon, with one of the former Julia's books which she had relocated from her previous stay in the castle. She settled herself in the center, under a tree, and read, and got a feel for the movement of people wandering in and out of the space.

Hours later, she felt a chill as the sun dipped behind the tall walls, and garden became quiet as maids hurried off to prepare for dinner and finish up their daily chores. When the patrolling guard lazily ambled off to the other side of the garden to trade his post, she stood and moved to the wall. She dragged her hand along the stones, searching for one that was a little off.

There! A stone, roughly the size of her hand, the wrong texture. When she pulled, it came free easily. Inside she found a string - which, if Ken did his job right, was attached a series of little bombs scattered along the base of the wall, buried in little cubbyholes like this one. Also inside the hole was a small flint, which she used to strike up a flame to light the end of string. (It was not an easy task, and not something she could use her maryoku to aide in. She had practiced beforehand, and familiarized herself with the smell, and the sound the flame catch on the fibers, and the feel of heat.) Ken warned her not to seal the hole up again - the flame needed to breath. It would move quickly, but she would have enough time to get clear of the area before it reached the first bomb.

Still, after checking to be sure no one was aware of her presence, she quickly abandoned the garden.

Moments later, a series of small, but potent explosions tore out the foundations of the wall facing the garden, causing much of the stonework to crumble and fall, exposing the hallway on the other side. Julia, several halls away by then, felt the floor shake under her, and smiled at a job well done, and wondered if the damage was bad, and if anyone was near when it happened. She hoped so. Injured or dead people meant more busy work for everyone, more distractions, and less people to interfere.

(OOC: Julia's just dashing off to get ready for her thing. If someone wants to tag her, feel free - just be aware that it will be short because she does have somewhere else to be ^_^.)
