Summary: Ken sneeks out and takes a walk. Iori and bullies along the way.
Ken sighed, relaxing as he rounded the corner and saw the park ahead of him. Somehow he had gotten out form under Daisuke's watchful eye to take a walk. He was almost completely healed, but the skin still pulled tight if he stretched a little. Walking around seemed to be a good idea to help get use to the taunt skin. Ken told himself he'd bring Daisuke back something sweet to apologize for disappearing.
The wind picked up and Ken held his jacket closer, it was starting to get cooler. He was about to walk towards the small lake in the center when he saw someone familiar on a bench.
“Iori?” Ken said, blinking softly.
Iori he was openly weeping. "Who's there?" Iori said. "S-stay back please..... Dont..... dont hurt me.....I'm depressed." Iori said winching away from the approaching person, he thought it was an idiot from his school coming to hurt him again.
Ken sat down on the bench, tentatively placing an arm around Iori as he said quietly, “Hey, Iori, It's me, Ken. What's wrong?”
"Koushiro got...... kidnapped by the Kaizer. I'm worried about him..... and to make matters worse I'm a wreck. I want to rescue him and stand against the Kaizer, but I'm scared he will beat me up and kidnap me again just like he wants me to. I want to help Koushiro and do something about the Kaizer. but I'm weak. I can't even do anything about the bullies at my school. I need help." Iori said.
Ken hugged Iori awkwardly with one arm. “Don't worry about that. You've did enough already. I know Daisuke and the others are working to get Koushiro back. Taichi left once he got news of it, didn't he? If Taichi's out there looking for Koushiro, I'm sure everything will be alright,” he said, then looked around. “Who are you here with? You didn't come out here alone did you?”
"Yes I did." Iori said. "Ken, I want to stand up to him and just put an end to this. even if we rescue him. He's going to continue after me and other people I care about.... Ken, I want to learn how to be more confident in myself. I don't want to be pushed around or victimized. I want to be able to defend people I care about....I'm just so sickenly depressed that I cant do anything. Can you PLEASE help me, I'm tired of being weak and depressed. I beg you for your help......" Iori said.
Ken blinked. “If you feel that way, Stop thinking the way you do. You're not weak, you just tell yourself that. You are only depressed because you tell yourself your are,” he said, rubbing Iori's arm softly in a brotherly gesture of comfort.
"I know. but it's so hard when you get beaten and harassed so much... What should I do, is there anything I can do to help myself feel better about myself? Is there anything you can do to help me?" Iori asked.
“I don't know,” Ken said, looking down at Iori. “Self confidence if something you'll have to achieve yourself. People mess with you to build their own self confidence. Maybe if you take a stand and try your very best, you can help yourself. But if you keep thinking negatively, and believe everyone is against you then you're not going to do yourself any good.” Ken tried to voice his feelings on the matter, but it was harder than expected. What ken was talking about was more of something in the brain than something in words.
"Ken would you mind doing stuff with me to help me? Maybe.... Maybe I just need an.... outlet for my anger and depression..." Iori said.
Ken nodded, a smile on his face. “ Sure, Iori,” he said. “What do you have in mind?”
"Ken, I was thinking, I'm thinking of requesting a transfer to your school, maybe I need to escape the harassment all together. we could do things together, your school has activities we could do together?" Iori said.
Ken thought on that, smiling warmly. He hadn't been to school in a long time, Iori had just reminded him. “There are a lot of activities available to the students. I'm in many of the clubs. Anything special you would like to try?”
"I would like to learn Soccer. Maybe playing a sport would help me vent, maybe if I was part of a team I'd feel better about myself. maybe some other activities would be good too." Iori said.
“We could try it,” Ken said, then laughed a little. “But I can't guarantee you becoming a Regular. The team's huge. There is a reserve team for the reserves, but they usually just do a lot of monotonous exercises.”
"I suppose. My school doesn't have many athletic programs so I don't even get to try. But if that doesn't work out, maybe you can show me some other programs. Also, would you be up for going into the Digital world to knock Kaizer down a few pegs? I want to weaken his forces a little to have a little payback if Daisuke and Taichi are getting Koushiro out. We can't let them have ALL the fun." Iori said.
Ken patted Iori on the back. “That's the spirit!” he said, then blinked. “Ah, I, uh, don't think going to the Digital world right now is that great of an idea.”
“He's likely too busy gloating about having Koushiro. He won't expect an attack. Plus, I'm angry and want to do some damage to his forces." Iori said. "Well, if you don't want to go, can I at least come over to your place? I have nowhere to stay."
“Hitting while he's distracted is a good thing, but us going isn't a good idea. We'll let the others handle it,” he said before smiling shyly. “And, uh, I'm not really staying at my house right now, either.”
"Alright." Iori said. "Want to do something Ken? Maybe get somethings to eat, help me pick out some soccer practice clothes, then help me start practicing for when I get enrolled at your school?"
Ken looked around. “Why don't we go get something to eat?” he said with a little laugh. “I only had a little while left before I need to get back before Daisuke sends a search party after me.”
"Maybe I could come back with you, I don't really have a place to stay right now...." Iori said.
“I don't think Daisuke will have much of a problem if I bring you home,” Ken said, wondering why home rolled off his tongue so easily and it felt like he had picked up a stay puppy. Ken stood up and motioned for Iori to follow. “Want to go, then?”
"Alright, we can probably just eat something there," Iori said following Ken. Iori looked at Ken, examining the clothes Ken was wearing. Iori had a pretty big crush on Ken.
Ken glanced at Iori, noticing the boy looking at him. Blushign slightly, Ken stepped forward, turning more towards Iori as they walked towards Daisuke's home. “What're you looking at?” he said with a small smile.
Iori smiled. "I wont lie. I've got a pretty big crush on you, Ken," Iori said, continuing to walk with Ken until a loud mean voice yelled at them.
"Iori-kun, where do you think YOU'RE going?"
"Oh. SHIT!" Iori said. He turned around the find the bullies from his school. They were all about Ken's age. "
Iori, let's have some fun, stay a while....," one of them said as their group surrounded him and Ken.
"Who's your friend?-Hey, I wouldn't try to defend this little punching bag of ours if you know what's good for you," he said to Ken.
“What punching bag?” Ken said, pulling Iori closer by the arm.
"Iori and us have got some fun things to do. Why don't you get out of our way?" the Bully said. "Before you get hurt."
“Why don't you go home? Isn't your mother calling?” Ken said, frowning deeply at the other boy.
"On second thought. We will just get Iori later hen you arent around. I dont want to waste the time with you right now. at this rate, I'm gonna be late. Lets go guys." the bullies said as they left. a majority of them wanted to stay but the leader didnt have the extra tiem to waste so they left.
"Thanks Ken." Iori said. "Ken, have you had problems with other guys and have been beaten up before?"
Ken watched the bullies walk off before turning to Iori. “A few times,” he said and smiled at the younger boy. “Let's go, ok?”
"Allright." Iori said.
