Contains spoilers and crap.
And I actually watched this hours earlier. I'm posting my entry after I browsed the fandom for conclusions enough.
So, it's over. Taking things in order...
LOLRIBBONSCANNON.
I still don't appreciate the fact that it came on screen just as I was drinking tea. I laughed so instantly I didn't manage to control myself like I usually do and I spit some tea out on my keyboard. Then I had to actually clean it, although fortunately it wasn't enough to cause any damage. xD Fail name, at any rate.
Secondly, aside from that problem up there, I liked the first half of the episode. The fight between Ribbons and Setsuna was very dynamic and it drafted everything in quite nicely, wrapping things up for real. Tieria's intervention and dialogue with Ribbons was also very well-placed (it even distracted Ribbons o.O). I was honestly hoping that Revive and Healing would survive, but Allelujah and Lockon killing them made sense too (especially Lockon, since he still had somewhat of a bone to pick with Revive). And Ribbons was pwning Setsuna, which rubbed my character-biased self the right way. Overall, this was the part of the episode that I really enjoyed watching; I was on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating every move.
Then they stop fighting when they're both battered; Ribbons has stolen one of the original GN drives - this part was actually a very good bit, I thought, since now he finally has what he truly wants, the one thing he thought he was lacking compared to Setsuna, to whom he's otherwise superior (he says). I didn't like oh-I-randomly-find-0-Gundam, but when Ribbons said it has to be fate, I instantly forgave the deus ex machina of that situation. But lol, rebuilt Exia out of the blue for Setsuna, too? What? xD I guess he needed something to fight in, true - forgave that, as well.
Either way, it was already going downhill, and now the fail starts for real. Rushed battle, random Marina voiceover/letter/whatever. Ribbons suddenly gets beaten easily from where he was almost winning with the previous setup, and he doesn't even get to remark on how it can't be because he now has everything, or something. He doesn't get to do anything except be destroyed in the 0-Gundam without so much as being clearly shown in the scene. What? o.O
I also hated the ending. I would have greatly preferred if the Meisters had stayed dead, as they seemed to have been, or at least if Setsuna had. This way, the ending was too perfectly happy, so much that it made me want to gag. Yay for Celestial Being still being there - nothing's changed. Uhh... okay? But it figures why it was this way - they want to make a movie in which apparently something occurs on Jupiter? Aliens or lolwhat? Who knows? Either way, it's coming out in 2010, and for their sake, I hope they fix part of the fail somehow with it. xD
One side comment: where the hell was Regene in the entire episode? Lack of screen-time pwns yet another character with potential. Come to think of it, Graham was abandoned back there after being defeated, too. xD
The only thing I did like about the ending was the Easter Egg Hunt for Innovades in the crowd shots in various settings. So there's tons of them still out there, mixed in as normal citizens with the normal public? Win.
Also. I hate the god-damned yaoi fangirls and their absolutely retarded speculations. I've seen comments they believed in which were so outrageously far from canon it hurt my eyes. Ah, well. Nothing new. Stupid will always be stupid. I want to sit back and ask myself: does ANYONE in this fandom ship pairings that were actually... you know... there? But I won't make the effort.
And that wraps up the series for me.
