Comics, man...

I haven't wrote anything about comics on this in a loooooooooooong time. I still like comics. I still read comics. I still want to make comics. I just haven't picked up much in the way of new stuff.

I guess it's because What I have been reading, those stories are coming to an end, or the creators I have followed haven't been doing anything or at least anything I'd be into. I mean, as much as I like Matt Fraction and Warren Ellis, I'm not too keen on their respective takes on Iron Man or the X-Men. Like it has been for the last several years, there's not much in the way of super-heroes that gets my motor going.

Except for one book that I meant to read back when it first came out, STARMAN by James Robinson and Tony Harris. I ordered the first softcover volume of the STARMAN OMNIBUS last week and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It made me kind of nostalgic for the early 90s, and it made me wish I had read it sooner. So far it's a really well-done story and I like the fact that Starman goes back and forth about being a super-hero, he thinks it's cool, but he kind of doesn't want to be a super-hero.

Another book that's really got me right now is SAGA by Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staples. I guess you could say it's influenced by Star Wars (because, aliens!) but there's some Lord of the Rings (swords, a little magic, ghosts) and other stuff. I dig it because it's about a small family that are just trying to protect their baby daughter. Something that I can obviously relate to.

So yeah, comics man.
