where are my fat boys?

OH . . . HERE'S ONE OF THE AMAZING DRESSES FFFF. It's a lot better-looking and of course you can see more of it in the movie. So yeah, all the more reason to see Alice in Wonderland; I'm willing to bet all my fingers that they're going to snag an Oscar for costume design. I would look for more pictures but this laptop's lagging like a lllllllllbitchsomethingalliterative.

So yeah, I went and saw Alice today! I went with Karlah and Meg who are the coolest people ever 'cos Karlah is really funny and adorable and Meg is super-adorable and likes good music-Strokes! Beach House! Grizzly Bear! ANIMAL COLLECTIVE! The VW // RRR // DP family!!! Plus I was able to complain-slash-joke about how Phrazes for the Young was $20 despite only having 8 tracks on it (in all seriousness, that is a freaking EP, Jules. You're lucky you're wonderful) and she agreed! My other friends would have just went "okay cool Genina" and either rolled their eyes, or secretly wondered what to do with me, or both. OKAY IRRELEVANT-

On to Alice. I haven't done a movie rundown in a while ohohoho.

So first off, the movie had me going OH MY GOD THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! THE COSTUMESSSS! WAUGUUUUGUGHGH within the first five or ten minutes and they weren't even in Wonderland yet. So you can imagine what my reactions were later in the film-okay maybe not; I actually cried-when Alice did fall into Underland // Wonderland. It was beautiful and gorgeous and stunning and whimsical and  all kinds of wonderful, and I particularly liked Mia Wasikowska as Alice. I'm glad they didn't cast a bigger name to be Alice because that made her all the more charming, I think, but she just did such a good job in making herself eccentric and weird like the rest of the cast. And her dresses . . . UGHHHHH inspiration.

And yeah, I did see it in 3D, but I wasn't really blown away by it? I don't think I would have minded seeing it 2D. I remember when 3D  was fairly new with stuff like Spy Kids and that Donald Duck feature in Disney Florida, when you would reel or duck and shut your eyes because there was a fist or an enchanted frying pan coming at you, and it was SO CONVINCING. But yeah, I think if a Jabberwocky looked like it was coming out of the screen, some of the small children in the theatre would've cried or something. It was still pretty beautiful, and I liked to pretend I could reach out and touch all the fabrics of Alice's dresses I MEAN Cheshire Cat's fur idk.

The only real thing I was bothered by was the White Queen, and while I have no problem with Anne Hathaway, I couldn't take her seriously because . . . okay I won't say anything. I'll leave it to youuuuu. For now, a gajillion stars out of a number bigger than a gajillion because I'm bad at rating movies unless I didn't like them. /Ov

Aaaaaand, on to some music:

I haven't done a yay-I-bought-some-new-records post in a while-I bought Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King by Dave Matthews Band, and I'm pretty much almost through with it.

The art is nice (done by DM himself!), the songs are nice, Dave's voice is nice (surprisingly versatile ohhhh), Dave's Ozzy Osbourne impression is also nice but it's not on the record oh sob you would have to look for that on the Internet (make sure to include 'SNL' with your Google search too). I think it would be the kind of record you'd want when you're cleaning you're room because it makes it all the more fun when you're grooving around and singing while you're putting your clothes away and such. :DDDD The only thing I expect to hate is that secret ending to You & Me, which isn't so secret anymore I guess, but it really is a great record, and You & Me is probably my favourite song right now.

I also finally bought the physical copy of A Ghost Is Born so I can play it in my room while I'm . . . oh, writing, I guess? I don't think it's the kind of record to clean your room to. Anyway, I'm glad I finally did it, because the art direction is nice too, and I finally get what Jeff's singing in I'm A Wheel! YAY I love Wilco. I even stuck the Wilco ≤ a ghost is born sticker in my sketchbook oh me oh my. OH OH OH at HMV Fairview they had Kicking Television, for one thing, and BEING THERE!!!! Which is sort of on its way to being a rarity these days! I probably should have bought that, but with it being a double-album and being sold so cheap it almost felt like a steal or something lol;;;; I am the worst. Anyway, I'm gonna leave it at that.

. . . So right now I am insanely, endlessly inspired by Alice, the current colour palettes in Zara and the rasp in Dave Matthews' voice . . . GOODBYE

movies, a glorious existence, the shizzle, music
