It is so hard writing haiku. :( Structure, iambic parameter, and that kind of poetic stuff does not mix with me.
These are just a couple of the ones-protos, if you will-I wrote for the haiku contest Wilco is holding for their fans, and since I am both a Wilco fan and am hoping to score a Gibson SG signed by the whole band!!!!!, I decided I'd give it a crack. But I am fucking terrible at this! xD I've written haiku before, but in that basic, purist way they teach you in grade five where you write about nature. Though as much of a hard time I'm having with this, I'm also having fun with it, because I've always wanted to work on something inspired by // dedicated to one of my favourite musical acts . . . so expect some Beckesque free-verse or something in the near future. :Dv
The second one actually started out as a couplet inspired by Sonny Feeling, which I ended up liking a hell of a lot more than the haiku, so it's back to the drawing board for me I suppose. D': I'm hoping to come across one or two good ones in my head before the deadline, which is the 27th (Black Friday, I believe?). I've read some of the other haiku that people had tweeted via the #wilcohaiku hashtag, and mine don't even deserve a second glance! I don't stand a chance for that SG grand prize, but really, I think I'm in it for these.
because I am loving Jeff's chin + Mikael's glasses they just look So Precious.
