About the energy spikes... seems like some people were fighting. Other people are feeling it too, although I haven't felt anything.

I don't know yet. I'm going to the scene to find out. Looks like Watanuki was hurt in that, or at least he was hurt at the same time that it happened. Ichigo should have brought him there by now.
