I "just happened" to have thought about many of these issues before - and that's why I have to agree with the author on many of his points (though I don't share his political beliefs, or for that matter, the idea that majority of any given nation will ever strive to be non-conformist without turning conformist by the very virtue of such an attempt). However, I agree that you have to try and that whenever someone's talking about "universal love", that someone is either a demagogue, who doesn't even believe what he is saying or hasn't really thought that idea. I've seen that so many times, especially with Jewish activists for various causes ranging from Darfur to "war on poverty". Most of them have no idea why they are doing what they are doing other than "universal love for humanity" - and that's one of the reasons, I think, why nothing much ever gets accomplished by these groups. Nothing that has a lasting impact, at least.

By the way, I noticed that you didn't share your own opinions. Reciprocity?
