Saw it with Dan and Khuffie. It's pretty bad, but let me tell you why...

I never got into the cartoon but man the reviews for this movie are BAD. Not that I always listen to critics but I am largely avoiding movies this summer, nothing interesting to me.

I have hopes for Scott Pilgrim yet.

It's so tragic because I had decent hopes for the Airbender since M. Night Shyamalan is actually pretty good at setting up mood and atmosphere and character interactions, so wtf happened. A lot of my friends are like "THAT'S THE TWIST OF THIS MOVIE."

Yeah, I mean, it's like he fell down the stairs and forgot how to write a coherent story.

Dang it! :( Need to show Joey the series before the movie, then.

Yeah, Khuffie was my test sample for "person who has never seen the show". I asked him afterwards if he understood what happened. He said "Sort of", then I asked him to describe Katara's character. He had nothing.

That sounds like the 70-minute long review of "The Phantom Menace."

Yeah, I've heard negative reviews from all corners of the globe. I think we've decided against seeing it and then NetFlixing it later at some point.

Which works for me because I haven't finished the first season of the cartoon yet. :)

You mean that Red Letter Media guy? I enjoy his reviews. We compared the character building to Phantom Menace in that sense. I'd like to see him review this movie.

Watch the first season so you'll know what the fuck was going on and why these characters even exist. Then watch the movie to see how badly a children's cartoon known for its character development was mangled beyond recognition.
