Messy Love

Mar 30, 2010 13:43

Perfection is overrated I'll take messy love any day. This week I received the best pedicure ever. It was messy but done with love by Wee One who insisted that I celebrate my 36th birthday with pretty purple toes. Wee Two meanwhile, has been practicing the "Happy Birthday" song for days. Each time she ends it by exclaiming, "My birthday two months!" as if it's part of the song and we would forget she has a birthday coming up.

Yesterday the girls really wanted to bake a cake for me complete with purple frosting. The experience of baking with a 4 1/2 year-old and 22 month-old is pure chaos but tons of fun. We just didn't realize that our stove wasn't completely level so we ended up with a really lopsided cake. It's a good thing lots of frosting helped make the cake presentable. Tonight I know I'll receive some really thoughtful but clumsily wrapped presents from Trophy Husband (aka the worst gift wrapper on the planet). So this year I'm celebrating a messy birthday with lots of love and good memories.
