[ Today, the doors to the high school gym are closed, with a sloppily written Secret basketball strategy meeting note taped to them. Inside, there are no drones, just school-aged kids. ]

Okay, today I want to figure out some basic stuff. First, what have people tried to get out of here? Second, what's the most dangerous stuff that happens here?

Personally, I'm not sure what plans people have had to get out, since they never seem to get far, I'm afraid. As for dangerous... Westport was pretty bad, a-as well as the Soviet town...

What sort of dangerous? Brainwashing dangerous or Godzilla dangerous?

The latter, I'm afraid. There was a-a lot of death, people getting severely injured... when did you arrive here? Where you here when the man from the Soviet town was on the loose in Mayfield...?

That's a good thing. Monsters are easier to take down than magic.

N-No, Mayfield's versions of monsters... you can't. The hazmat men... they were in Westport, and then they showed up here. I think the Smith girl had something to do with it. She let them loose here, they ran all over town for days burning down houses a-and killing people in order to find the runaway man...

[He shudders a little, trying not to show it. He was still having nightmares.]

You have to tell the whole story if you want it to make sense.

Ah... no one told you? If you die in Mayfield, you come back the next day as if nothing happened. I... I've been killed here three times so far.

I always thought it was rather like a video game, myself. Still, i-it's not easy.

Yeah. The land of the dead isn't a great place to crash for a night.

Well, i-it's not like I remember anything while dead. I remember up until what happened, then waking up the next morning. It's disorienting.

Does it make people braver?

I suppose it depends on the person. It certainly does change a lot of things, but Mayfield knows that there's things they can do instead of just killing us.

Personally, I'm not looking to make it a habit, if I can help it.

Got it.

If you hit a hazmat guy with a stick, what happens?
