Big Day Out - Awesomeness!!

Feb 06, 2006 11:58

This was actually my first BDO!
I really can't believe that I have lived to 22 years and never gone! I am a total moron, the biggest one that has ever lived!

Well here was the lineup my lineup... The Living End; Franz Ferdinand; Iggy and the Stooges; The White Stripes. All seen just behind the moshpit... say 10 - 15 meters from the stage? And no I don't have any FUCKING PICTURES!! FUCK!!! Any ones that are worth anything anyway. Since the dearest ialmostbelieve forgot to take the batteries to the camera!!! Ah well at least I had my trust ol' phone with a wonderful/beautiful camera that would allow me to take the best pictures in the world.. of say the person's head in front of me. No zoom is the total killer. There isn't really anything to salvage from those photos either, darn! But if you like to see garbage please click ialmostbelieve, as she decided to steal all my photos, and it would be stupid to repost the same ones.. which were the best ones btw. :S And I have no idea why they look so far away in perspective, as I could actually see the performers faces.. hmm maybe my eyesight isn't all that bad afterall, or maybe the camphone is fucked like it is.

The first show was The Living End. They are not something that I would usually listen to on a stereo, BUT! They would have to be one of the most entertaining acts around. They are adorable! Not that you can really use that word, but they are just so cute ^.^ Prisoner Of Society - as worn out that song is, it was excellent on the day.. We don't need no one like you to tell us what to do! ...

There are no words to describe Franz Ferdinand, there just aren't! I'm completely and utterly in love with them. They are The Beatles reborn... awaiting my murder anytime now. (Too bad for you ialmostbelieve that you're so short! Mwahahaa! :P Sorry ^.^ ) I can't really say much just because I am so totally amazed! They are about 1000x better live then on CD, just because they are allowed to go wild with whatever they are playing. And there is nothing better then a performer rolling around on the stage, and doing that 2 legged jump. All things as usual.. but two thumbs up for playing Michael and Auf Achse, which are some of my favourites and I highly doubted would be played.

Iggy Pop is a total freak! I mean it was somewhat entertaining and energising to see him, but I feel like he is a tad too dated, the audience just didn't get him. He was going all mental on the stage, but all he looked like was - some old guy that trying too hard to do something.. no-one really knows what really. His band.. the Stooges, were FUCKING AWESOME!! I guess they just stick around with Iggy because of his image/popularity, but they could do so much more without him.
To sum up.. Iggy is a true Rock Star of the 70's 80's... but not of the 00's. I can't say I didn't like him, because he was insanely entertaining, but when someone runs around doing fuck knows what with his body (CRAZZZZY!) and screaming "I am a dog woof, grrr....!!!" It's kinda mad. Oh and got to love the "MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!" every 5 minutes or so. I will never be able to look at myself in the mirror with wet hair again!

I have a feeling I may be a bit stoned now.. all thanks to the Iggy crowd. Not that I was smoking anything, but rather that the cloud of smoke was so thick that I felt like puking half the time. Now I can't type properly, I keep dropping things, and my body feel all fucked up, jittery as hell, and kinda stretch mad. My brain is slow and weird, and I keep clicking my fingers all the time or just tapping the desk/floor. That cloud must have been thick! (And Tan.. I agree with you I think I did start enjoying Iggy after a while ;) )

The White Stripes were strikingly beautiful! There is nothing that compares to them in the emotion they express. I still can't believe there's just the two of them. Way too good for that, especially when it's live. How can a person play the guitar and the piano at the same time?? I ask you! It's madness.
