I'm illustrating Tolkien's Farmer Giles of Ham for my thesis. I finally feel ready to share something though it seems most of it will be redone in the end - magical three times seem to work.
As an illustrator I like to bring personal meanings into my work when possible. I think this is about being in a new and dangerous situation, overcoming it by chance and waiting over in a dazed state while it passes over your head. I can relate to that. Sometimes we have to meet giants on our way and we think "Woah, that was tough!" ...until we meet dragons.
I have a lot of passive-aggressive things to say directed at my thesis adviser so let's pretend I already said it all.
