When she learned of her actions as Julia Thorne, she realized that there were facets of herself that she had never seen.

Without information, Sydney could neither reconcile with the fact that these elements were part of her, neither could she blithely assume that they were instilled by her brainwashing.

She feels the warm rays of Julia's personality when she is being cruel or calculating- the sharpened word she choses to exacerbate Vaughn's guilt, the tiny lies that break his heart, the twist and swirl of her tongue when she speaks words Sydney never would have said. The quicksand of Julia is hot and comforting, and the harder Sydney fights it, the faster she falls.

When he goes on a mission with her, Vaughn expects the same professionalism they always had, the same trust. The unoccupied part of Sydney's mind longs for the safety of this action, Julia pushes the exaggerate the difference. Sydney keeps the truth from Vaughn to protect him; Julia keeps the truth from Vaughn to punish him.

When Vaughn is caught, Sydney's heart beat wildly in her chest and her mind thought wildly for some way to save him. It was Julia who supplied the idea, Julia who would extract revenge. Julia was able to persuade Simon, with her slippery words and pleading tone, who took the knife with practiced grace and wielded it expertly.

It was not Sydney who looked back at him through narrowed eyes, and Julia who raised her chin defiantly. "You never should have betrayed me," Julia said, the anesthesia of her voice cold and painful, and she slid the knife in.

Sydney placed the tracking device on him, but, like Julia intended, Vaughn fell thinking only of her hatred before it all went dark.
