Well what have I been up to since the end of A Week In A Life? Still doing DIY work.
The Friday after the last post, they picked up the dumpster from my house. Well the combination of it being so heavy and a void in the asphalt in my poorly constructed driveway meant one of the wheels of the dumpster tore a giant gouge in the asphalt. I had to run to the store and buy cold patch to fix that.
The next task was to put in some concrete pavers in one of the spots I removed concrete from. That was a slow process as it took a lot more bedding sand than expect because of how deep the area was left behind. It also took a long time because I can only put so much weight in my car and that required a few trips to Home Depot. I do hope my garbage cans like their new home. At least I won't be tripping in that spot anymore.
With that done I finally finished regrading the back yard and planted grass where that giant concrete pile was. This brought to an end of the big DIY project at my house. So what do I do? I start doing stuff at my moms house.
The roof soffit over the front porch was falling apart so I tore that out starting on Saturday and finished bebuilding that today (Thursday) But the reason it fell apart I found out was because there was a big bulge in the roof and it was leaking.
The first of the above photos is after I carefully removed about 18 roof shingles, cut out the bad piece of ply wood and installed the new ply wood. The second is after I was all done with that repair. Since then the shingles have resealed and have started to flatten out.
Still job hunting. I saw one notice earlier this week that looked interesting and with ridiculas qualification requiremens, which I have, but it indicated that the posting expired in early September. I noticed on a message board a few minutes ago that if a position is still posted after the expiration date, that means the posting is still open and they haven't found anyone. Now I'll have to fight with their on-line system to get my resume uploaded to them in the morning.
