Three weeks and counting. In three weeks this mess of that I call the John A. Roebling symposium will be done. To answer Cynthia’s question, John Roebling is the designer of the Brooklyn Bridge. In celebration of his birth 200 years ago, a 1 day of lectures about him and the company that followed along with a day and a half of tours will take place.
Time for me to vent about the tour. Some people have insisted with visit the Delaware Aqueduct. I think it’s a giant waste of time to drive to the middle of no-where when there are plenty of other things to do. So today for the 4th and last time (3rd Saturday in a row), I spent only 8 hours of driving to finalized the route to make this mad dash possible. I was successful in knocking 45 minutes of the driving time. The bus leaves Brooklyn at 0700 sharp. If someone is late, tough. The Sunday Brooklyn Bridge part is also finally set. I found sponsor money to pay for real tour guides. I still have to figure out how to move 60 people from Brooklyn to Manhattan on a Sunday morning by Subway and do it in less than 30 minutes. Engineers are hard to move as a group. If they miss the 9:10 subway, then they can wait 20 minutes and run to catch up to the rest of the group. Aren’t I a stinker?
3 weeks and I get my life back
Still trying to finish my bed room. I wasn’t able to buy the paint because of the Roebling driving today. I’m still applying dry wall compound and sanding and keep find more areas to repair. Tomorrow I have to clear a spot in the living room to move my bed into there. Then I have to figure out where to put the rest of the stuff. I need everything out so I can install the new baseboards and give the carpet a good vacuum. I won’t put the bed back when I finish painting, hopefully by next weekend. I’ll buy a new mattress have them take the old one out of the living room and put the new one in the bed room. No need to bang up the walls more than need be.
