He waited leaning against his car. Reese's lips twitched in greeting as she descended the stairs from the government building. She stopped in front of him.
"I've been transferred."
Crews nodded.
"The car alright here?"
"Yeah."
"Come on then," Reese said already beginning to walk away, "I saw a fruit stand a few blocks up."
He walked after her. He desperately wanted to ask her what exactly had happened with the brass, but he restrained himself and followed her. She asked him what he wanted, and he mumbled an apple. Her pace was slower as they returned to the car.
"You're transferred." He began.
"Yep."
"Congratulations."
Dani smiled. "You sound really happy for me Crews."
He took a bite of his apple. "Sorry."
Dani smirked, before pulling out a piece of her orange. "For someone with your history, you really hate change."
Charlie gave her a small smile.
"I don't really like it either Crews. I- You're-" She stopped. Looked at him, "You're my partner Crews. It's going to be... weird."
"It's what you want?"
Reese shrugged and they continued walking. "I'm going to be in charge of my own detectives." She smiled, "I'm gonna be a Lieutenant, Crews."
Charlie watched her. Her smile was broad, "It's what you want."
"Yeah." She looked towards him. "I mean it's not perfect, but..." She smiled again.
Crews returned the smile, he let his free hand brush against hers, and was pleased when one of her fingers wrapped around his. "Good." Crews finally said.
Dani's smile grew, and she held his hand fully before letting it go she then opened it up and with her palm up said, "Keys?"
"It is my car." He protested halfheartedly.
Her smile stuck, as did her outstretched hand until it was able to close around the sharp edges of his keys.

"Crews."
Charlie looked over from the passenger seat. "Yes, Reese?"
"You know, we're not partners anymore."
Crews straightened in his seat, it had been a month since she had vacated the desk across from him and he still hadn't grown accustomed to his new supposed partner. "Bobby's still my partner."
Reese's rolling eyes were hidden by the sunglasses she wore. "I meant technically, Crews, in the eyes of the department."
Crews, somewhat appeased, relaxed into his seat of her car. "So..."
"So, if we're not partners, technically. We could possibly..." Dani trailed off shifting a little in her seat, the hands on the steering wheel flexing.
Crews stared at her beginning to figure out what she was working up to. He waited patiently.
She spared him a quick glare. "Crews." She took a deep breath, and then without pausing for another one said very quickly: "I haven't spent a night at my house for over three months."
"So..."
It took all of Dani's will power not to drive them into a tree just to end this damned conversation. "Crews," She sighed, "Crews- I'm suggesting we move in together."
Charlie smiled. "Okay."
Reese tightened her grip on the steering wheel. "Okay?"
"Yes, Reese, I think we could live together."
"Okay then."
Crews was silent. The two of them drove in silence for a few minutes. "I assume you mean into the house." He said finally.
"Yeah. You- You don't have another one do you?" Reese asked her brows scrunched.
"No." Charlie said with a smile.
"Right," Her grip on the steering wheel relaxed, "Then I'll move into yours."
"Ours." He corrected.
"Ours." Reese agreed.
Thank you so much to everyone who has reviewed. This has been my first WIP so the encouragement has been much needed, and much appreciated.
