I haven't updated in a couple of weeks, and even now I still can't think of anything to say. Of course, lots has happened, but it all revolves around work and unless anyone wants to read about the old man with MRSA or the woman who demands cheese and crackers instead of the food that everyone else eats, my post would be mind numbingly boring.
So instead, whilst browsing my flist, I found a meme type thing from Nic and I've decided to post it in an attempt to lift my post and make it cheery and readable and stuff. :) Yes yes.
Ok, so here it is- the last 6 things that made me happy.
1) Starting my diet (yes, that dreaded word that crops up every couple of months when I realise I've put on 8 lbs.) As difficult as it is to restrain myself (and I'm not joking here, I have serious weight issues and it's a constant battle) I'm on day 4 and I'm doing very well. I think the huge increase in exercise (lots and lots of long walks, and even jogging every night) has done wonders for my mood and really given me a general 'I'm pleased with myself, I'm content' vibe which is slightly warm and kinda fuzzy. I got weighed, which is naughty- it hasn't even been a week- but I've lost several pounds, and I'm very pleased. I'll report properly on Friday (my actual weigh day.)
2) Treating myself. Because sometimes I deserve to treat myself! I went to Doncaster the other day to buy Christmas presents, and ended up buying a book for my mother, nipple tassles for my friend, and a boat load of goodies for myself. Haha! How bad is that? I ended up with skinny jeans (in the distant hope that one day I may be 'skinny' and suit jeans of the same name), two tops from Topman, a cardigan from Topman which is all grey (favourite colour) and suitable for wearing out wherever, or wearing to work (which I did today, and got called 'Preppy' which made me feel very fashionable and American), £2.50 jogging pants (bargain), a hoodie, and... wait for it... a beautiful new iPod nano. Sure, I already had an iPod nano but that one was old and normal, whereas this one is blue and shiny and plays Prison Break and Heroes so I can watch it on the bus or the train or if I was feeling really gross, the loo! So yay for that. It's a stunner.
3) Me saying "I had to wait two years for a Mr Frosty," much to the joy of Linda at work who had a severe laughing fit, and proceed to write my allegedly hilarious quote on the office whiteboard, which made me laugh. It was one of those moments where I was feeling sorry for myself, and obviously sounded down in the dumps when having flashbacks of Mr Frosty-less Christmases which just set Linda off.
4) Entering the Firefly Store raffle. Thanks for the info Narin, I had no idea it was going on. The prizes are all insanely rare and exciting, and I like that I just have money to charity. It's nice to give a little something every now and then, even if it is only a £2 per month Cancer Research direct debit, and a fiver on a raffle.
5) The new series of Heroes. Kristen Bell, I rather love you my dear. This makes me want to give Veronica Mars another go. Or at least it almost does. If Veronica Mars could shoot lightning from her fingers, I'd be sold.
6) The fact that I'm going to Budapest in less than a week. I love that I get to experience another slice of European culture less than 2 months after my week in the Greek island of Corfu. Travel is a heee-uge passion of mine. So expect a report on that when I get back from the land of Hugary!
XO Olly.
