I'm almost through Even Dwarfs Started Small (sic) and really enjoying it. I took Frederic to the dog park and met a nursing student whose name I didn't catch. A mother with an adolescent daughter was mired in puns and homonyms. I used to say to Shakespeare, a pun is half a joke. He said we weren't friends anymore.
I made myself a nice lunch, which is the reason for my posting. I have been making an easy cranberry sauce and putting it on all kinds of things. It's good for game, for Turkey for Chicken, but I especially like it on Pork Chops that I sear in the cast iron pan with some rosemary and sage.
The cranberry sauce is
1 C frozen cranberries (Door County cranberries are local and available)
sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.
1/4 c water
Heat in a small saucepan until the cranberries smash easily with a fork (about 10 minutes)
It's also really good as a side with eggs in the morning, as it cuts the warm savory sameness of breakfast with a shot of acid, bittersweet fruit.
