I have found a little pool of relief in the form of the MTV show "My Life as Liz". In the first episode, Liz, the iPhone using red headed nerd, is upset that it's her 18th birthday and she can't find her friends. The brief scene she shows when mentioning her friends...is of them Larping. In this episode, Liz learns that sometimes it can be good to have one friend who is a girl.
After that - well, there's alot of plastic lightsabering but they mostly focus on the usual, so I'm pretty over it. But still.
